Liberty Theological Seminary Book Critique on Believer’s Baptism: Sign of the New Covenant in Christ Submitted to Dr. Christopher Moody in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the completion of this course THEO530- B02LUO Systematic Theology II June 26, 2015 Table of Contents Introduction……………………………………………………………………………………....3 Summary………………………………………………………………………………………….3 Critique ………………………………………………………………………………………..…4 Conclusion ………... ………………………………………………………………………….…7 Bibliography ……………………………………………………………………………………..9 Introduction In their book, Believer’s Baptism, the authors Schreiner and Wright attempt to incorporate their views on why baptism is essential in the Christian church. Along with its importance they also go further by promoting the believer’s baptism over infant baptism. They begin by attacking the Christian claim found among many that baptism is a trivial issue. They quickly negate this statement with an alternate point of view, that Christians who suffered persecution and martyrdom did not believe it to be so. Summary Placing aside the foreword and introduction, there are ten chapters or sections to this book.
Valedictorian address 2005 The journey through life is one that nobody goes through alone. Whatever people may accomplish, those accomplishments were achieved only through the combination of their own personal drive and motivation and the love and support given to them from the people around them. Therefore, I must begin by acknowledging all those that have been so instrumental in bringing me to where I am today. Most importantly I have to thank God and Rev. Moon, my spiritual guidance counselors, and my parents, grandmother, and other family that have been there supporting me all my life, I could not have done anything without you and you have taught me so much.
Theory Critique of Adams, Backus and Chapian Theory Critique of Adams, Backus and Chapian This paper addresses and compares the unique styles of Jay Adams in his book How to Help People Change (1986) and Telling Yourself the Truth by William Backus and Marie Chapian (2000). Both of these books approach change utilizing the Truth through the word of God in different ways. Summary of Theory Adams (1986) identifies a four step process that consists of teaching, conviction, correction and disciplined training in righteousness. He commands that counselors come together cohesively in identifying the goal of counseling as helping client’s change into a life of Christ-likeness (Adams, 1986). He stresses the importance of relationship involved in the process of change identified as relations between the power of God, the Bible, the counselor and the counselee (Adams, 1986).
These advancements were most likely the basis for a sudden philosophical argument: What do we truly know? People wondered whether science was really giving us knowledge of reality. The quest for the answer to this question led to the development of these two schools of philosophy. Two of the most famous philosophers of epistemology are Rene Descartes and David Hume, the former being a rationalist, and the latter an empiricist. In this paper I will attempt to give an understanding of both rationalism and empiricism, show the ideas and contributions each of the men made to their respective schools, and hopefully give my personal reasoning why one is more true than the other.
I would also like to thank my friends that I have met through this journey. You all helped me become successful. I remember our many study sessions we would have before a big exam and the many memories we shared. Thank you for always motivating me to do my very best. I accept this award with great pleasure and once again thank everyone who has helped me along my way.
Three groups of people who have been the most important and influential in my life are my family, my friends, and my fraternity brothers. As stated before, my family had the greatest effect on who I am today by laying the foundation of my cognitive development. My constant interactions with siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins, and my parents have taught me life
I asked Peter to sum up his professional life, and he answered “I have been fortunate… privileged even to have seen history unfold at close quarters.” When finally asking Peter what his greatest accomplishment in life was, his response to me was “Bringing up my two wonderful sons to be young men I am so very proud of, and so fortunate to have.” Peter Cave is a great man, who inspires myself and thousands of others around the globe to open their eyes to what goes on in the world. He encourages people to think about how they want to live their life, and how they can contribute to society to make the world a better place. Peter Cave is a ‘Walking

He taught me to consider everyone as a part of my family and taught me how to love people by sharing and giving. I believe that the biggest fantasy in life is to buy someone something he really needs and watch his facial expression. I learned that being humble is what makes friends, team or anyone you meet feel comfortable to connect with you in the future. My dad has been such an enormous, wonderful influence on me over the years.
