Richard Kwaning Mrs England English 9X1 Richard Kwaning 2nd October 2014 Roll Of Thunder Hear My Cry What has just Happened? Cassie and her brothers have just set on an attempt to stop the white school from always splashing away and creating their clothes and belongings dirty with dirt. It had just rained and during lunch an idea sparked to go create a deep ditch which the school bus could fall through. Their plan worked and the white school couldn’t use the bus for quite some time. Cassie and the boys were rejoicing home.
He was not in there for too long because Mr.Radley had to bring him back home so he would not die from the mold growth. When Boo left that basement, he would never see society again. While Boo was chained up in his own house, rumors passed were around town about him. People became terrified of Boo because of stories and lies told about him. He was only a victim of the insanity his parents put him through from being isolated from society.
His children particularly Mayella, have been affected by this lack of empathy, and have developed it as well. After Bob had just saved Scout and Jem's lives, Atticus and Mr. Heck Tate were talking about Mr. Ewell. "He has guts enough to pester a poor coloured woman, he had guts enough to pester Judge Taylor when he thought the house was empty, so do you think he'd met your face in daylight?" (Page 269) - Mr. Heck Tate (on why Bob Ewell went after Scout and Jem). This quote shows how Bob Ewell has no empathy skills whatsoever.
He sewed Jem's pants and left them on the fence so he could get them easily. He also saved Scout's and Jem's lives while risking his own. Boo was a fragile and gentle person. Throughout the novel, Scout, Jem, and Dill are curious about the "mysterious" Boo Radley because he never comes outside from his house or associates with anyone in the neighborhood. The children are afraid of him because of all the stories they hear about him from the people in Maycomb.
Doodle's brother was cruel. When he wanted Doodle to do something, he tricked him into doing it. There were many occurrences in Doodle's life where his brother used this method. For instance, he made Doodle touch his own baby casket. "One day I took him up to the barn loft and showed him his casket,.....before I'll help you down from the loft, you're going to have to touch it…” When he said that he would not touch it, Doodle’s brother said “Then I'll leave you here by yourself,” I threatened and made as if I was going down.” (346) When he did this, he put Doodle in a position so that he had
Some men just suddenly jumped off the window and others just ran out of the mansion screaming. This had made Penelope sad and felt like giving up but her mother told her and made her understand that she doesn’t have to worry because her piggy appearance was not hers, it was her great grandfather’s nose and ears. A man named Vanderman, one of the man who took flight at first sight teamed up with Lemon(a tabloid reporter who spent his life stalking Wilhern family and had seen Penelope when she was a baby) to reveal and prove to everyone that they are not crazy and
When Allie died, Holden smashed every window in his garage; his violent action foreshadowed his later self-destructive personality. Holden has been suffering from the loneliness of his brother’s death since he was thirteen. He never confronted this pain and instead avoids it; Holden is a compulsive liar and he distances himself from people by being cynical. By distancing himself from people, Holden believes he can never feel the pain that occurs as a result of a beloved, deceased individual. While Holden uses his self-imposed alienation as a defense, he is unaware that it severely damages his well-being.
Also mention that she lied to herself and made herself believe that the man she met could really have put her in the pictures and that her mother had hidden the letters from Hollywood. Paragraph 4- Candy Talk about his relationship with the old dog that was shot, being on of his only friends. Contain references to the fact that, because he only has one hand, he cannot work with the other men and spend his days in the ranch compound with no company. Refer to his great delight at being allowed to share George and Lennie's dream, which made him believe that he could escape from the constant cycle of loneliness. Mention how he tries to be friends with the new men automatically because he believes he could become their friend.
The one cassava farm that had ravaged had not lasted long and there seem to be no rabbits or birds anywhere. They are even so desperate that when they come across a little boy eating two ears of corn, they steal it from him and share it among themselves. His parents do not confront the boys about their behavior, because they seem to know their desperate situation. In fact, later the little boy’s mother gives each of them an ear of corn. This makes Ishmael feel guilty for only a few minutes, because in his position, there isn’t much time for remorse.
Crooks is angry at this invasion of privacy, as he is not allowed the option of entering the men's bunkhouse. Lennie asks Crooks if he can stay because everyone else went into town tonight. Lennie hovers around the doorway, talking about his puppy, and Crooks gives in and lets Lennie come into his room. Only Candy has stayed home, and he is sitting in the bunkhouse making calculations about their farm. Lennie starts to talk about the rabbits they're going to get, but Crooks just thinks he's crazy.
