(Ch. 17 p. 442-444) Out of all the different varieties of tourism strategies that each country practices, I think that the United Arab Emirates (UAE), has the best tourism strategy. Dubai, one of the nation’s most dynamic and fastest growing cities, is the hub of tourism and luxury in the entire region. The UAE leader, Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashed has established the Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing which is responsible for making sure that Dubai remains one of the area’s biggest hot spots on the Persian Gulf. The strategy that the city’s Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing has constructed to try to ensure that Dubai remains a powerhouse tourism capital in that region has five major cornerstones. These cornerstones are human capital, institutional framework, laws and regulations, productivity and innovation. The DTCM has developed a sustainable tourism infrastructure and support system. They have also advanced their quality customer service and improved on value for money systems. Dubai promotes innovation and commerce through tourism opportunities making this system and strategy completely sustainable and valuable to the travel and tourism industry as well as tourists themselves. The DTCM is not only found locally, but they also have fourteen overseas locations as well making them an international organization.
