In order for a hospital to continue satisfying its patients and doctors, there must be guidelines for staff to follow. Sammy, who is a clerk at a grocery store, shows an excellent sample of a man attempting to inspire a lady. His imprudent choice to leave his place of employment was a terrible choice and will certainly have an unfriendly impact on him later on. Pollan who was informing us of all this information then goes on to say the feces from the animals at the immensely large farms can in fact pollute water supplies of the surrounding areas. As his polio worsened, he would send her into the buildings to act as his "eyes and ears" during inspection tours of hospitals, asylums and prisons. At first, Eleanor's reports were highly unsatisfactory for Franklin. However, as she continued to help she began to learn what to look for. "I learned to look into the cooking pots on the stove to find out if the contents corresponded to the menu. I learned to notice whether the beds were too close together, and ...to watch the patients' attitude toward the staff, and before the end of our years in Albany, I had become a fairly expert reporter on state instructions" (Freedman 87).
And oh the look in their eyes, such a burden, to want something so bad, but feeling ashamed afterwards, knowing they shouldn’t let such a thought pass their minds when they know, they could barely afford a piece of bread. Yes I remember it clearly, once while I was walking around the streets, after visiting a children’s hospital and donating money to the poor. I passed by a boy staring at a window pane, his eyes glazed over a piece of chocolate. I stared at him/ I could see in his eyes such a deep longing for this 1 piece of chocolate, I passed by him, walked up to the counter and asked “ Good evening sir, may I have that piece of chocolate”. The second I bought it I noticed in the boys eyes this sort of even green with envy.
They show stereotyping in this clip “when James and his mother went to the dentist in the town of Bayonne there were many instances of Jim Crow laws segregation. On their bus journey the Black people sat in the back of the bus and the dentist office had only black patients. Understanding that James was cold and hungry, the mother walked to a café on the other side of the town marked “colored” so her son could get warm and have something to eat (“The Sky Is Gray”). By having the words “Colored” and having blacks sit in the back and having only a black dentist office shows stereotyping because the Jim Crow laws separates the whites from the blacks. Lastly, the cartoon “Afrocentric Algebra” is a model on stereotyping.
The video I watched was called “Cheerios Commercial' Gets Racist Backlash "Interracial Family". This commercial was about a black daughter who tells the white mother about how cheerios are good for the heart. After the confrontation with the mother, the dad who happens to be black, had cheerio’s poured on his chest, where the heart is placed. (Sealightfilms, 2013, May 31). From viewing this video, I have discovered that it became controversial.
