Construction Of The Great Pyramids

There are many speculations on how the pyramids were constructed. Some people have come up with the crazy idea that they were built by aliens. Archeologists have proven though that the pyramids were actually built by the Egyptians. Some of the theories I am going to look at today deals with the floating of the stones from the quarry across the Nile then placing the large stones on cedar sleds to get them to the building site. The means used to hoist the large stones up the height of the pyramid, such as ramps, machined levers, and even antennae to levitate the stones to their proper place. I will also look into the theory that the stones used for the pyramids were not the solid limestone believed to be use but one of the first forms of early concrete. Polish engineer and inventor Andrzej Bochnacki theorized the Egyptians used the flooding waters of the Nile to transport the heavy stones across the water. Bochnacki states,”Light, made out of papyrus, boats were put on the top of blocks and tided up with ropes. These transport boats ware waiting for raising water of the Nile and they could be easily towed to a chosen destination. The simplest way was to haul them to the west side of the Nile where water flooded the fields. Here they were left in the mud to be transported on the land after the flood was over”. After the water receded the stones were transported to the site by the means of cedar sleds that were dragged across the land by oxen. Some theorists speculate the stones were hoisted to their heights by the means of ramps. Some think the ramps were positioned horizontally away from the pyramid using earth and other debris form the site. The ramp was extended taller and longer each step rose higher. Others believe the ramps were built vertically along the grade of the pyramid. Most believe that the pyramids were created in a step
