This allows them to work alongside their colleagues and lets them build good relationships with the service users even if they are from different backgrounds. People who have disabilities can have problems with communicating effectively with their careers and this could cause problems for them and their health. Verbal communication is a spoken language used by people to communicate out loud. To be a good communicator you can use verbal and non-verbal ways of communicating. A good verbal communicator is someone who listens well and can think and express ideas clearly.
Cultures, race, religion, and beliefs when raised are part of each person’s characteristics. Employees learn in different manners and some methods work easier than others. Bloom’s taxonomy for cognitive learning has six basic steps. The first step for the trainer is to have a basic plan, evaluate and determine the learning criteria and value. For each set of learning materials list the strengths and weaknesses for analysis.
GIVER The giver is successful in making a difference in the world negotiating and promoting peace. The strategy used with this type of personality is to promote studying with others, seeking out subjects that involve helping people where they would have an opportunity to discuss topics honestly and freely. ORGANIZER The organizer is a responsible and reliable individual with a hint of neatness and organization. The strategy to encourage this individual is to have task defined in clear, concrete terms while providing a stable environment. Also, the utilization of a planner to schedule tasks and dates are extremely
Understanding of these elements is essential to achieving academic success. As a student will have to deal with people with a wide range of personalities and learning styles throughout his or her academic career an effective communication and collaboration strategy is essential. Learning Styles According to Howard Gardner’s theory of Multiple Intelligences there are eight different intelligences or learning styles. They include Verbal-Linguistic, Visual-Spatial, and Intrapersonal (Carter, Bishop, & Lyman Kravits, 2007, p. 38-39). Verbal-Linguistic is the “ability to communicate through language (listening, reading, writing, speaking)” (Carter, Bishop, & Lyman Kravits, 2007, p. 39).
Physical, cognitive/intellectual, social/ emotional, and moral development will be examined. The course focuses on defining the various stages as they impact instructional practice and decisions in a preK-8 environment. (3 credits) Prerequisite: GEN 200. EDU 310 Models and Theories of Instruction This course focuses on the theoretical models that underlie teaching and learning for all learners. Effective teaching strategies that promote student learning will be examined.
With regard to this, several theories have come up since the 1970s explaining different approaches to learning. They include Multiple Intelligence theory by Howard Gardner, Kolb’s experiential learning theory, Honey and Munford’s model and Antony Gregorcs model. David Kolb’s experiential theory suggests that an individual learn through interaction with his surrounding environment. Accordingly, it focuses on an individual and the role played by social interactions in learning. With regard to this, David and Roger (1975) point out four learning abilities that individuals can possess and which determines the learning style(s) that such individuals posses.
1) Establish rules for the Group that create an atmosphere for learning and address issues before they develop. 2) Help the group to understand standards and expectations. 3) Help to develop teacher/pupil relations based on respect. 4) Encourages interactive participation for greater understanding and exploration. 5) Assists teacher to determine group pace and plan modular stage for course completion.
Characteristics of a transformational leader are providing vision and direction, gains trust from others, communicates expectations and critical purposes, motivate and influence rationality, advises, and guides individuals (Robbins & Judge, 2013, p. 383). I tend to be creative with the task given to me and I have the ability to think outside the box. Although I have a high attention to detail, my critical thinking and problem-solving skills make me an effective leader amongst my peers. “[T]ransformational leaders also show greater agreement among top managers about the organization’s goals, which yields superior organizational performance” (Robbins & Judge, 2013, p. 383). According to a study conducted by Gong, Huang, and Farh (2009), employees who work under transformational leaders had more self-confidence in their ability to be more creative and perform higher (pgs.
Learning flourishes in a social environment where conversation between learners takes place. During this intellectual gymnastics, the learner creates a framework and meaning to the discourse. 5. In the collaborative learning environment, the learners are challenged both socially and emotionally as they listen to different perspectives, and are required to articulate and defend their ideas. In so doing, the learners begin to create their own unique conceptual frameworks and not rely solely on an expert's or a text's framework.
In this unit learners will come to appreciate the soft skills they need to develop to become effective employees. Learners will identify and consider their own soft skills and, through practise, improve these skills. Communication skills are key to success in any sector but are particularly important in highly technical sectors, such as IT, where the language used can become full of jargon. It is important that learners are able to communicate with non-technical staff and understand when different types and vehicles of communication are appropriate. IT provides specific software packages and advanced tools that can be used to improve the effectiveness of communications.
