Color In Our Lives Color is everywhere in our natural world. Shouldn’t we include it in our homes? Home is where we spend most of our time, where we live, love and laugh. I have been looking into the way color affects us. White is actually an absence of color and who wants a colorless world? Red, blood pumping through our veins with excitement. Orange, slightly spicy and fresh. Yellow, sunshine warming us with its heat. Green, fresh grass in the spring showing new life. Blue, the serene calm of the sky and the gentle waves of the ocean. Purple, thoughts of exotic lands and people. Brown, relaxing smells of fresh turned earth as we plant flowers. I simply cannot imagine a world devoid of color. Color helps us feel alive, vibrant, and gives life to our emotions. HGTV remodels says, “Color makes a tiny room feel larger, or a spacious one feel more intimate, without the time and expense of actually moving walls.” Different colors evoke an emotional response in all of us, whether we notice it or not, in addition color allows us to show our individuality and personal style. Dark colors can give quite an impact, and grab attention. Bright, dark colors should be used carefully due to their intensity. Medium hues can either warm a cool color scheme or cool a warmer room. When choosing a color scheme we must always consider what the room is to be used for. Blues and yellows are most common for kitchens, nearly anything works for a living room. Bedrooms are open due to personal preferences. White can be a base to work from, murals can be built off of a very plain background as white is. Trying out small patches of color can be useful if you are undecided, as long as you keep in mind darker colors are harder to cover with lighter tones and lighter covers easily.
