Advanced Writing and Literature Hunter Mathis Descriptive Final Draft December 25, 2085 Christmas Morning Dew She wakes up in the dim morning glow. A warm tingling sense is runs all throughout her body, as she stretches and yawns. Thinking, what day is it, is it different from all the rest? Soon, her father comes and calls her in her bed, saying, “Merry Christmas!” and it all comes rushing back to her head. She gets up, groggy-eyed but excited, and shuffles her way happily into the family room where everybody is gathering. “Merry Christmas, Merry Christmas, Merry Christmas!” she says, as she greets everyone with the holiday warmth. The stockings, plump with gifts, treats, and kindness, hung above the glowing fireplace waiting to be emptied. The Christmas tree, rented from Menards and genetically engineered to glisten, lights up the whole room with its long, and ornamented welcoming branches. She goes to the kitchen, and mom just pulled her homemade, family-recipe coffee cake out of the self-monitoring oven, and its cinnamon-sugary coffee aroma wafts its way throughout her home, everyone’s faces lighting up with a breakfast cheer. Next to the coffeecake on the dinning room table, there’s some fresh cut fruit, apples and peaches and strawberries and grapes. And, only a few times in a year delicacy, the delicious, hickory-smoked bacon. The corn crops lower than ever recoded by way of draught, and so the pork farms pump out less bacon – the rarity of bacon meat makes this family meal so much more to her, as everyone’s only able to have it a couple times a year. And around the table are her grandma and grandpa, parents, perhaps some siblings and family friends. Everyone dives in, and table-chatter quickly evolves into plate scrapping, and food chewing.
