Challenging behaviour Robbie The y/p in this essay I will call him B. (DATA Protection act 1998) The first weekend B attacked unit staff with a tree branch and was so violent, he was self-triggering in his behaviour with no de-escalation he was removed from the unit by police .B has more than 20 incidents with staff and other y/ps in the unit, with threats of assault on B from other resident On the day of the incident (Friday) B was to go on home leave at 09.00, earlier that week social work had made a decision that there would be a teleconference on Friday afternoon we were not to tell him, B attended the meeting and when he found out he was not going home he stormed out, B made his own way back to the unit and was fairly calm but hot as he had ran all the…show more content…
B was shouting and swearing I was not actually holding him but had my fingers encircling his wrists were he could move but not pull his hands away B was not actually struggling, I spoke to him in a calm way and when I thought he had calmed I went out side with him and monitored him from a distance he asked to go back in to the unit Were he again started to hurt himself on the table and chairs I again put the restraint on him until he calmed we left the building this and time I could see he becoming calmer and seemed to be re-engaging with me, we walked around the unit grounds were he started to speak stating again why was he not allowed to go home, B but he stormed off into the wooded area around the unit I went inside for a drink of water and as I was in the kitchen bobby appeared at the window and began to knock it quite hard were a pane glass broke an bobby ran away I went outside to clean up the broken glass and suddenly bobby appeared I asked him if he was ok were he showed my he had cut his hand I said we need to get to the hospital, B started to cry saying he didn’t mean to break the window gave him a hug and said it was ok I knew it was an accident ,we then left and went tom the
