In our society today, we are very busy living our lives and finding or continuing a career. In all our busy lives we often forget to the help the ones in need but some people do remember to be helpful and creates NGOs to help and The Canadian Red Cross is just one of them. Their mission is to improve the lives of people in need by multiplying the power of humanity in Canada and around the world. The Canadian red cross is a very successful NGO and helped millions of people throughout the years, including the Pakistani refugees in India, victims of the Guatemala earthquake that killed 22,000, the Southeast Asia refugees and victims of war in 1970.
Peace keeping was founded in 1956 as a solution to the Suez crisis (Wood1). Since the start, Canada has demonstrated its commitment to peacekeeping. As of 2003 Canada has contributed 125000 Canadian peacekeepers to UN mission all over the world and has been part of 53 missions, 35 of them in the 1990s era (Wood1-3). Two current missions are operation Gladius and Artemis. Operation Gladius has 3 Canadians participating in observing a ceasefire on the Israel-Syria border.
The Loyalists cooperated with each other by helping build log houses and raising crops. Because of the Loyalist’s hard work, determination and cooperation, they managed to build a colony. EHC is a non-profit society which owns the land and buildings of Elim Village. ECCS is a non-profit society contracted by EHS to provide care within Elim Village and EF is the fundraising branch that raises funds for ECCS. The independent living has 197 units with a life lease. There is an amenity building for their use, with a wellness program that has a parish nurse twice a week.
They lend a helping hand to all families who are in need of some type of support. Without organizations like United Way, North side Association for Community Development, Habitat for Humanity and Salvation Army, many families would be left out in the cold to suffer. It takes social initiative like these organizations to make the world go round and help people who are experiencing a difficult time in life. The commitment of this organization to low-income families is seen in more than 150 communities across the country where the Family Promise networks provide safe shelter, meals, and support services to get families back on their feet, while addressing the underlying causes of homelessness. It is now a melting pot of different ages, cultures and races. Because of this companies must now balance different types of diversities in order to keep employees happy and the company functioning. Firstly, people are now staying in the workforce longer. This now means that people of different generations now have to work alongside one another which can cause conflict. Age is not the only diversity within the workplace, but now cultural differences such as race, religion and personal beliefs also play a bigger part.

Remittances are sent back to the country of origin by members of families allowed to work in foreign countries. In 2008, the amount of remittances sent to developing countries was of $325billion, while in 2010, the amount grew to $440billion(Doc.8). Finding work in developed countries like the U.S. (Doc.3) gives the opportunity to send money to the families and often creates diasporas among people of similar origins.
