Captivated: A journey of revelations As soon as Ms. Katie wrote the instructions of the project on the board, I got excited. This project would be my chance to prove to everyone that I was qualified enough to major in Philosophy. Mostly everyone around me disapproved of my choice simply because they believe that this subject would not provide me with good opportunities in the future, but I believe that a person should always follow his passion, and if he works hard enough towards it, he can make it. As a senior in high school, I have made my decision to apply to the University of Chicago. All we have to do is to become a wallflower; a person who just observes and notices things but doesn’t really participate in them. We have to make a scrapbook with at least five entries in which we describe each scene and present our ideas and thoughts on each unfolding scene. It is what defines us as humans. It’s what keeps the world sane and it’s the mere lack of it that causes chaos. Humanity can be seen when you see two strangers helping each other out, when a person cares enough to try to make you happy. The fact that the girl who was a complete stranger to the boy, did a better job of making him feel good rather than his own dad shows how kindness can come from anyone at all and that’s what makes the world a better place to live
