Businesses should be philanthropic, because the better the world is the better industries will function. Corporations that engage in chartable activities are actually investing in their future. Donations and acts of altruism have a positive effect on the profitability, the efficiency and the reputation of companies. Most firms should contribute part of their profits to an important social cause, which is in compliance with the values of the business. A corporation is not a separate unit which functions on its own. There are many external factors that affect the prosperity and the well-being of an organization – economic, political, social, demographic, etc. For instance, if the economy is in a poor condition it is very probable that the firms operating in it will not flourish. Besides, each country’s market place has its distinctive culture. Politics can influence and determine the ways through which the firm achieves its goals. Demographics also should be taken into consideration when doing business. The workforce is the main asset of a corporation and its level of education, social status and other characteristics are extremely important. In addition, customers’ needs are shaped by the social environment and tendencies like poverty, aging population or low levels of buying power are essential when making major business decisions. By being philanthropic industries achieve three of their main goals – increase profits, improve employees’ efficiency and present their business in good light in front of the public. By deduction we can see that if the society has problems then businesses have serious issues. That is why in corporations need to be philanthropic in order to be profitable and flourishing.
