Four to Score, Janet Evanovich Character Analysis Stephanie Plum * Stephanie Plum is the protagonist of this novel. In it she plays the role of a bounty hunter- sassy at most. She is fierce, smart-mouthed and her attitude never wavers. Stephanie is just a one-woman riot on her own. Lula * Lula, a major character in this novel, plays a rare, but daring character.
Austin Steere 3AC 1: Climax: Katniss holds out the berries, threatening to kill both herself and Peeta, thus urping the power of the Gamemakers. 1: I think she had feelings for Peeta (even though she didn't admit this to herself). But the main reason was that she wanted to protect him just like she did with Prim, and tried to with Rue. She is a lioness by nature and her instinct is to protect but also to protect herself. Remember when she found Rue speared and she first asked "are there more?"
Another difference between the Coppermine Eskimos from others is the fact that women hunt Caribou, and are often better hunters than their male counter parts. It is unclear if this role has ties to their ancient past or since the introduction of guns that caused women to be able to hunt. Jenness makes no mention of women hunting with bows and arrows. Icehouses daughter Jennie when traveling to see Eskimos at Cape Krusenstern, it is unclear if these are coppermine Eskimos or not Jenness doesn’t say, shot a duck. Women and children both participate in the frightening, and coerostion of caribou into firing range of the men.
In this novel, the main character Katniss, who possesses the ability to hunt with great ease and expertise, is called to saving her sister Prims life when she is announced as a tribute. When the representatives from the capitol of her world come to her district for the annual reaping, or when two people are chosen from each district to participate as ‘tributes’ in the Hunger Games, Katnis realizes that her life will never be the same, and for her Prims life is much more important then her own. Katnip as her beloved friend would call her does something completely unheard of and volunteers herself to go to the games in place of her sister. “Happy Hunger Games! And may the odds be ever in your favor.” She is chosen to go alongside the son of District Twelve’s bakers, Peeta Mellark.
To Read Or Not To Read Wolves of the Calla by Steven King If you have not read the first four books in the Dark Tower series by Steven King, I highly recommend you do so before starting Wolves of the Calla: The Dark Tower V. According to Andrew O'Hehir, a New York Times contributor “The Dark Tower is nothing if not ambitious: it seeks to blend disparate styles of popular narrative, from Arthurian legend to Sergio Leone western to apocalyptic science fiction.” The Dark Tower series is about a gunslinger named Roland and his quest to find a tower that haunts his dreams. He does not know why, but he must find this tower. During his epic journey across dessert wastelands, over mountains, through forests and even into alternant dimensions he meets countless memorable characters that join him on his quest. The main three characters that help Roland during his travels are Jake Chambers, a twelve year old boy from New York City in 1974. Next is Eddie Dean, a twenty something heroin addict from Co-Op City in New York from the early 1980s.
Theoretical Concepts within “The Hunger Games” Jessica Ivonne Hernandez University of Texas Pan American Jori Alyssa Sechrist SOCI-4333-03- fall 2013 Full title The novel “The Hunger Games” is very interesting. The novels plot illustrates a unique society far unlike the one we have today. It holds a totalitarian dictatorship government. There are a couple scenes and ideas in the book that I found related to Karl Marx concepts, and one related to Simmel. The Karl Marx concepts I was able to identify were class division, capitalism, and exchange value.
How does the writer show the conflict in her thoughts and feeling about hunting? The writer uses her personal experience to describe the feeling and thoughts in a harsh environment vividly. In the third paragraph, the writer writes a few sentences to show that ‘an essential contributor to the survival of the hunters in High Arctic’. It can be obviously seen that catching the narwhals to eat is necessary, as the people need to survive on them. The author uses some technical language such as ‘vitaminC’ and ‘scurvy’ to implie that this is the only source of food, energy, tools and money in the High Arctic, which shows her sympathy to the hunters as hunting for Narwale is the only job they can do.
