Prison officials described it as an unclear method. Prisons incorporated rehabilitation programs to help inmates learn how to reduce their criminal behavior and educational programs were available to help the prisoners be able to receive a high school diploma or GED. The vocational training programs were able to be divided into two types which are certified and generic. Generic means the inmate works under a staff member or someone who supervises the inmates, and certifies the inmate of being taught by a vocational or technical instructor. There are two types of
Correctional Systems Q&A Response Team B CJA/234 February 5, 2012 Daniella Carson Correctional Systems Q&A Response Team B will discuss the definition of jail, the historical role of jails as it applies to corrections. How we can improve the role of jails within correctional systems, the various problems in jail, problems that impact prisoners, as well as correctional professionals and other criminal justice professionals, and how we can recommend fixing these problems. Jail is a facility where criminals are detained, awaiting trial or has been convicted of a minor offense. The roles of a jail as it applies to corrections, is to hold the criminals while they await trial. Defendants, who are sentenced to one year, carry out their sentences in the county jail.
While in prison, sex offenders will start treatment. “This program is to help offenders learn how to reduce and mange risk, provide information to help the department and its community partners monitor and manage offenders more effectively and evaluating and improving treatment.” (Sex Offender Treatment in Prison) “Sex offending usually is a learned behavior therefore a key pillar of the treatment is that offenders can learn to avoid sexual aggression as well as the skills they need to live responsibility in the community.” (Sex Offender Treatment in Prison) The article from the Department of Washington State adds that treatment begins with comprehensive assessments that include psychological tests, clinical interviews and other techniques designed to define treatment goals and strategies for each other. In these therapy sessions, the offenders must “take responsibility for their assaultive behavior, learn how to understand their patterns of criminal behavior, learn relapse prevention and other management skills to reduce risk of re-offense, learn the attitudes, thinking skills and behaviors needed to safely reside in the community and prepare to learn new skills and knowledge.” (Sex Offender Treatment in Prison) The treatment program is to help the offender to be able to understand why he/she do what they do and to learn how to handle temptation
The plan was to develop the evidence based practices (EBP) to ensure that operations were implemented as planned. The EBP was a concept to be shared between the system and the communities. They wanted to educate the public about re-entry and the policies involved in making it a success. The re-entry program is based on the TPC Model (Transition from Prison to the Community) which was presented from the National Institute of Corrections. The idea is to reduce violent needs of the offenders, particularly high risk offenders.
Criminal: A person who commits or has committed a crime (Worldreference.com, 2011). Abstract This research proposal seeks to determine whether correction employees can educate inmates well enough to help them become law-abiding, productive citizens at the same time trying to minimize the overall cost incurred in educating these inmates. In addition, the paper will investigate on the effects of obtaining a GED in prison and study whether inmates who obtain their GEDs in prison of Tennessee will less likely to re-enter prison.
The program or study that I mentioned above about the specialty agencies can be a great place to start. What if those specialty agencies are manned by social workers who specialize in treating and diagnosing mental illness? Instead of letting probation/parole officers monitor these individuals, let the social worker whose trained in the mental health field managed they’re care. In the NASW Code of Ethics 1.15 Interruption of Services it states; Social workers should make reasonable efforts to ensure continuity of services in the event that services are interrupted by factors such as unavailability, relocation, illness disability or death. As the person is being released into society that is where the services are severed, we as social workers can implement programs to pick up the services after their release from prison and/or jails.

The process on becoming a probation officer you are to be able to work with people who were convicted of crimes and sentenced to probation instead of incarceration. I get to do test on every single person to make sure that they dont have drunk, smoke, and if they have use drugs. In order to do my job right i need to work in court and also go through profiles to check records of those people.
The primary function of the ISP is to provide intense supervision of offenders under conditions established by the Juvenile Court. The ISP probation officers supervise a specialized caseload and work with the most serious violent offenders and chronic non-violent offenders. The Adult Intensive Probation Supervision Program is a sentencing alternative for offenders who would otherwise have been incarcerated in the State Department of Corrections at initial sentencing or as a result of a technical violation of standard probation. Intensive Probation Supervision (IPS) is designed to provide strict control, surveillance, and supervision in a manner which will restrict and monitor the offender's movement and activities in the community while emphasizing the payment of restitution to victims (Arizona,
Punishing people who commit crime is the job of the prosecution lawyer; they attempt to put the violators behind bars (Gardner, T. & Anderson, T., 2012). Rehabilitating those that have committed crimes is also the responsibility of the corrections. During their stay in the jails/prison, the violators can be subject to programs to help reform them to be productive citizens once they get out of jail/prison (Gardner, T. & Anderson, T.,
