Heather Abbott Pantaleo English Comp BECOMING AN FBI AGENT When making the decision to make a career as an FBI agent, there is some tips and things you should know before applying. You should have some prior military service, and when discharged an honorable discharge absolutely necessary. Once out of the military or college you should apply for law enforcement positions, ones that work against drug use, and white collared crime. You should be proficient with the use of various kinds of fire-arms. When in college or before you apply you should take some foreign language classes, it would be better for a person to be fluent in more than one language. For Law you must also possess a Juris Doctor, Language, you must be proficient in a language. Accounting requires this to be a major in studies, and pass the CPA Exam or FBI equivalent. Diversified duties require an advanced degree with work experience or a minimum of three years work experience. The PFT gives you three chances to pass and if you don’t pass by the third time you will no longer be eligible. The PFT requires you to do a maximum number of sit ups in a minute, a timed 300 meter sprint, a maximum number of push ups (which is untimed), and a timed 1.5 mile run. If an applicant scores less then 6 points he/she must wait a minimum of one year before requesting a retest. If an applicant scores 6 or more points he/she must retake the test with 30-90 days. If an applicant scores 6 or more points on a second try he/she must retake the exam within 90-120 days. Applicants processing will be discontinued if the retest is not retaken in the time frame. All candidates must take and pass the PFT within 60 days of reporting to a new agents training class at Quantico. For special agents the PFT has a scoring scale and protocol for each event. In order to pass, you must achieve a minimum cumulative score of 12 points, and 4 events. Tactical agents the scoring is different and there 5 events but they need to score 20 points to
