Why Factory Farming Should Be Banned? On June 22, 2001, the transcript of New York Times full page ad published the detailing horrors of our modern-day slaughterhouses. They show how cows go through disassemble lines which many are still fully conscious with eyes opened wide when skinned and cut apart. They die piece by piece… literally! More animals are subjected to more tortuous conditions in the U.S today than there ever has occurred anywhere in the world history. There needs to be in end to this. We need to put or foot down and stop factory farming. Factory farming consists of animals being injured and killed everyday for our selfish needs. Chickens, the biggest losers in the industry farming, you would say. About 14,000 chickens are slaughtered every minute in the U.S. 98% animals killed a year are the birds. Egg factories produce about 95% of eggs available, but do you know what they do to these birds to get this eggs we bye at our local grocery store. The birds are held in battery cages. Each battery cage is 14 squared inches and around 5-8 birds are shoved in each one. These chickens get there beaks cut off which is known as debeaking. They get there beaks cut off to prevent aggravation which is due to stress. The stress we put on them. These birds wouldn’t be come stressed if we banned these factories for good. What happens to the 250 million male chickens born in the U.S egg industry? Along with defective and slow-hatching female chicks, the male chickens are trashed as soon as they are hatched. Males are also not used in the broiler industry. The male birds are disposed and killed at birth. To produce bigger thighs and breast, they selectively breed and genetically alter them.
