SLIDE 6 & 7 Arab scientists contributed to many fields such as Medicine , Chemistry Mathematic etc. But today we will discuss the Arab scientists contribution to the field of Medicine. Many Arab pioneers are mentioned in medical history. these Arab scholars further elaborated on the knowledge they had gathered from previous manuscripts along with their own experience.Thus, the progress was apparent in the numerous medical fields such as anatomy cardiology surgery and many others.4 SLIDE 8,9,10 Here are a few notable Arab scientists who contributed Yuhanna ibn Massuwayh -performed dissections and described allergy. AbuBakr Muhummad ibn Zakariyya ar-Razi (Rhazes) - differentiated smallpox from measles, and wrote the famous Al-Hawi, a medical encyclopedia of 30 volumes. Az-Zahrawi (Abulcasis)- known as the father of surgery, performed tracheotomy and lithotomy, introduced the use of cotton and catgut, Ibn-Zuhr (Avenzoar) - described pericarditis, mediastinitis, and paralysis of the pharynx, and who pointed out the importance of drugs for body and soul Ibn-Nafis - studied and described pulmonary circulation. Ibn Sina (Avicenna)- differentiated meningitis from other neurologic diseases, described anthrax and tuberculosis, introduced urethral drug instillation, stressed the importance of hygiene, and dietetics. One of his most notable medical work is the Canon which Is an immense medical encyclipedia Slide 11 These inventions by these scientists had numerous kinds of impact on the world.
