Boxer George Orwell chose the name Boxer for the horse in Animal Farm because horses are hardworking and strong just like professional boxers. A professional boxer gets up early everyday so that he can train and work hard to be the best, and Boxer wanted to be the best fighter for Napoleon and the farm. Boxer said, “I must work harder” (Orwell 64), which he did to prove to Napoleon that he wanted to help out as much as possible on the farm, but like all great boxers, Boxer eventually was defeated. Boxer gave it his best when the farm attacked the humans, but he got injured and then died. Benjamin Benjamin was the perfect name for the donkey in Animal Farm. Benjamin was old and wise just like Benjamin Franklin. Benjamin the donkey is suspicious about the revolution on Manor Farm, but he just watches it all unfold because he knew that it would not change anything on the farm. Benjamin Franklin felt the same about the Revolution that was occurring in America. He knew nothing would change for the common people; only the politicians who craved power had their lives change. Benjamin the donkey took in everything that was happening around him, but he did not want to speak up about it. Moses Moses the Raven in Animal Farm is a replica of Moses the prophet. Moses the Raven went around the farm telling other animals about SugarCandy Mountain which was like their version of Heaven. Moses the Raven said to the other animals that they could only go to SugarCandy Mountain if they worked hard. Moses the prophet told his followers that they could only get to Heaven if they prayed often and were nice to everyone around them, and just like Heaven, none of the animals know if there really is a SugarCandy Mountain, but they want to believe there is so they can all go there after they die.
