William Carlos Williams makes great use of several elements in the presentation of the poem. Some of these elements are language, form and content. First of all I was greatly attracted to the aspect of content. The author chose to narrow down to old age as the essential content of the poem. Actually it activated me as I read through the poem.
He could not live long, but during the years that he was suffering from his disease, he comprehended that “failure and loss visit us all”, life is not easy and it might seems to be unfair, but we have the right to choose from disheartened or encouraged. One’s attitude is very important when encountering difficulties. In addition, Simmons’s father once stated that “we need a hard road, not a smooth one”, a hard road makes us reflect and see clearer of who we really are. Life is a hard road, people go through loss to reflect and finally to defeat. When people go though the loss, “it hurts terribly, but it heals, and sometimes like a broken bone where it knits, it is stronger”.
Although he had an odd way of showing how he truley felt he was very broken hearted when he disapeared. Boyne explains how the whole family suffered and how they all delt with the loss of Bruno. It's a very sad and interesting story that has a lot of twist and turns to it. Boyne ends the last chapter with this paragraph. "And thats the end of the story about Bruno and his family.
Also we must take into account that grief or loss does not always mean the death of somebody. It can relate to the loss of a job or partnership. Moving house or locating to a new area. The author’s name of a book, then the title, the plot and so on until you have no recollection of having even heard of the book and progressively until one is practically forgetting their own name.

The author proves that Andy is looking back to his past and regretting joining the “Royals”.
