Another reason why Conservatives won is that in there manifesto they promised to stabilise the cost of living which would close the gap between rich and poor and double everyone’s standard of living. This was helped by Labour being identified with the working class rather than the nation as a whole. This was a problem as 40% of manual workers now considered themselves middle class so the Labour policies for the unemployed and working class no longer appealed to them, instead they believed that the Conservative party was going to help them to continue to move up the social ladder. A third reason that the
The way technology has driven the last half of a century has changed life astronomically. Everyday people crave and desire the next big thing on the market. Whether it is the hybrid car or touch screen phone, the need for something more leaves room in life for unhappiness when those items are not obtained. Lao-Tzu strongly argued that when people do not want anything, they are okay with living simple. This is beyond the truth of today.
Therefore, people no longer had to worry about changing the currency when crossing into other states. Another problem with the Articles of Confederation was that it allowed each individual state to have its own militia. This was a problem because each army was small and run by different people, and the states did not have sufficient funds to arm their men adequately. The Constitution corrected this failure by raising and supporting armies, providing and maintaining a navy, and designating the President of the United States as the commander in Chief of the Armed Forces. The Federal Government now has the right to organize, arm, and discipline the militia.
The Revolutionary and Napoleonic wars saw little reform in terms of massive change for the army apart from the eventual adoption of skirmishing light infantry which was not so much effected by financial concerns but rather the demands of the armies in the field, the financial concern of this was that rifles were not adopted by the army at large and only by these sharpshooting skirmishers because of the expense of manufacturing these weapons. However once the need for it was seen the finance did not stop the mass recruiting that the army carried out to give it a war time presence whereas previously the government had not allowed a large army to be fielded. The Crimean war of 1854 to 1856 revealed the inadequacies of the British Army and a commission was set up to review these facts this along with the India mutiny showed the commission that a standing force of 25,000 men was not adequate to defend the empire’s interests since these events had together stripped Great Britain of all her trained soldiers, it took almost 20 years for any reforms to be implemented because of the conservative nature of the army where many old ‘die hard’ officers rejected reform on principle. It was a constant uphill battle for Edward Cardwell to force these changes on the army. The only real financial implications of these reforms were the allowed recruitment of another 20,000 soldiers and two millions pounds worth of funding, otherwise the reforms were more concerned with the welfare and quality of troops, such as getting rid of punishments that were barbaric and allowing for better officers and training, although another influence of these reforms was the withdrawal of battalions from some far flung outposts of the empire allowing better training.
Military leaders should ensure that contracting firms educate their employees about the UCMJ prior to their employment in a combat zone. Unfortunately, this added level of accountability and potential legal liability may dissuade some civilians from serving in a combat zone, and the price of contractor services may consequently increase. Nevertheless, the cost of unregulated contractor behavior could be significantly greater in terms of undermining US stabilization
America used to have a good reputation in these nations but, as stated by Dr. James Zogby, founder of the Arab American Institute on July 12th of this year, “the lingering wars in Afghanistan and Iraq have changed that perception”. In fact, from a study of over 4,000 citizens from each Arab nation, conducted by the AAI, approval of President Obama’s policies were on average 10 percent or less. As anti-American sentiments grow stronger, there is not only less chances for diplomatic relations with these countries in the future but there is also an increased risk of terrorism attacks against the United States. Additionally, our interventions have not even resulted in viable democracies in either of these nations yet, which strongly indicates that democratic interventions by the United States in other nations don’t work. In the Arab nations studied by the AAI, “U.S.
Following the WWII the economy boomed in several ways. Due to the high demand of supplies for the military it created jobs and decreased the number of unemployed citizens. The production and expansion of military products did not seize even after the war was over. It opened up factories to create more powerful and sophisticated weapons to defeat our enemies. As we see today we are still seeing changes in our military and defense system.
We need to do something to help the minors who did not have a choice of coming over here, but just followed their parents. If these minors are here in the U.S and thriving for an education or serve our country why not give them a path to citizenship. It is not easy as immigrant to stay focus and achieve what you want in life. The more immigrants that become legal they would pay taxes and our deficit would go down in the long run. Until the government decides what to do, we are going to be in this recession.
The low graduation rate is not good for my community because it will lead to increase in the degree of unemployment and this may trigger the rate of crime. Every person desires a safe and secure environment, an environment where its inhabitants enjoy numerous economic benefits. Hence, I would address the unequal allocation of resources and discrimination in district schools because by addressing this inequality, I will be creating not only an educated community but also reduced crime
When drafted, you will be able to meet people from all social economic statuses. It would not matter if you are an attorney, a waitress, a factory worker, or even a homeless person. A sense of great influences and patriotism is given when you do not have a choice. By having a choice today most of our youth have no respect for our veterans or patriotism for this great nation. The draft will lessen the effect of PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder) on our troops.
