Why So Serious? In recent years, technology in the cinema industry has become amazingly effective in creating alternate realities for us to go see for seven dollars on a Tuesday night. It was the worry of many that movies would become more focused on creating visual spectacles than focusing character development and plot. Luckily this hasn't been the case as we have been seeing some of the best plot devices and characters the cinema has ever seen. The Dark Knight, for example, is one of the greatest movies of our time in part thanks to the astonishing visual effects but more thanks to the extraordinary relationship and conflict between the Batman and the Joker.
As is stated in the article, the company used to have a major competitive advantage in terms of movie selection, where, “…customers could browse through thousands of titles…” (Hitt 106). Now, the entire scope of the market has changed and Blockbuster was much too slow to respond. The recent moves that it has made will surely generate profits, but not enough to sustain the company in the long run, seeing as there is nothing that differentiates Blockbuster’s services from that of its competitors. In order to fully gain lost market share back, the company would have to create some sort of highly innovative way of viewing or renting movies that none of its competitors has already thought of; It would have to be something that is rare, difficult to imitate, not easily substituted, and able to generate above-average returns. Unfortunately, at this point it looks as if none of this will come into fruition because Blockbuster has essentially decided to latch on to other companies, creating a sort of symbiotic relationship where the company feeds off of the success of its competitors.
300 might not be historically accurate, but a lot of special effects were added to this movie in purpose of adding a flavor to the screen and to keep the viewers of the movie entertained. The fight scenes are far from what you may call “historically accurate,” but that was Zack Snyder’s intention. 300 This movie will always be remembered, 300 is always going to have an important role in the history of cinematography right next to movies like Casablanca. I absolutely love the movie 300, a lot of film schools take advantage of the great methods that were used to make this movie and use them to teach their students about films. You can count on film schools using 300 as a means to teach film students for many years to come.
The main character was focused on making a movie that people will remember, rather than making a movie to get him rich. Whereas in the remake the main character was in the midst of a financial disaster and primarily was making a movie to restore value to the name “Denham” and to make money for himself. Throughout the rest of the movie, there were subtle differences in the moods of the characters, for example the captain in the original was nicer than the captain of the
The Crucible: The Book or The Movie? When asked the question in which format, the book or the movie, do you as the student get more out of? I personally was able to appreciate the concepts of this story better in the movie than in the book. Its not just the fact that I am a bit more of a visual learner but the simple fact the movie was fantastic because of its wonderful portrayal of the characters and the cohesiveness between the movie and the book. The actors in this movie make an all star cast of Hollywood’s most heralded and respected people.
Many examples come from the entertainment side where if a movie makes a lot in the box office then it is a good movie, if a book gets off the shelves quickly then it is a good book, or if an album gets sales then it is a good album. However the entertainment side is not the only thing this pertains to, if an idea or a quick scam, like a shake weight, gets a roll on some sales then people start buying more and more thinking that it is a genius idea. This is how America come to believe things, if it makes money, sells quickly, or widely popular, then it must be
INDEPENDENT FILM DISTRIBUTION: HOW TO MAKE A SUCCESSFUL END RUN AROUND THE BIG GUYS by author Phil Hall SYNOPSIS: Everybody talks about mainstream cinema. Consequently, they pretty much seem to have an idea as to how the big Hollywood-produced movies are distributed and appreciated. And there's also the understanding that independently-made films are the second-class citizens to the big-budgeted, highly-touted features that emerge from the West Coast. Over the years, independent films (whether on a big or small scale) have struggled to gain acceptance in the consciousness of the average moviegoer. And the effort has paid off somewhat handsomely because independent films have made the stride gradually to entice giddy film fans while artistically capturing their imaginations.
Printing news differs because the visuals are flat, has more text to read on, and actually provides more important news. In the novel written by Postman and Powers, “How to Watch TV News,” it talks about how the TV stations just simply want to make profit for their own benefits by creating “their” input in the stories. TV news does capture the audiences in watching because it consists of moving pictures, gossips about celebrities, and is actually a “theatre” of news than an information source. The novel also states that at random and unneeded times; the news would just talk about the celebrities’ lives, such as Britney Spears or Oprah. There is several important news that needs to be heard and seen, but the TV news wants to bring in more audiences.
Hence people in the whole world were influenced by new channels, new programmes, and new websites. It would be hard for anyone to dispute the fact that MTV has affected the society of the whole world both favourably and adversely. To begin with, “MTV Generation” is an informal term that appeared several years after MTV exploded into American homes. This American channel, undoubtedly, changed the entertainment and media industries forever. First of all, VNV created an all music channel directed chiefly towards teenagers and young adults.
I went to the theater last weekend in order to write the music and film essay. I was happy because it had been a long time to see a movie in the theater. There are many movies which are showing in the theater. It was so difficult for me to choose the movie which has a good music and story. Thus, I picked the movie “Vantage Point” rated “B plus” on yahoo’s movie.
