This situation is a very heavy weight for David to carry. Everywhere he is and everything he does after that moment is affected by his decision to give away his daughter. David never forgave himself for what he has done to his family. At one point he decided he should come clean about the entire lie but “he couldn't do this; he could hardly imagine anymore what his life would be like without the weight of his hidden knowledge” (Edwards 322). The secret has eaten him alive and he is never able to recover and forgive himself.
Sadly a lot of lives were lost. But the good thinking that did happen was that the British retreated and we gained our rights back and never had to answer back to the British ever again. Epilogue: A few years after the war ended Revere retired from war and his trade. Revere would always love to tell stories of his ride to family and friends they all loved to hear of the midnight ride of Paul Revere. Soon after he died at the age of eighty-three leaving children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren and they have all heard and remember his midnight ride.
“She is a part of a past that cannot be recovered or changed by anything I can do now. My father always told me that it was my birth that robbed her of her sanity. So as a child I had to carry the weight of my mother's madness as something that was my own doing.” (Davies 148) Paul had believed his whole life that Mary's insanity was caused by his birth, and once the truth came out, Paul was no longer guilty. The lift of guilt allowed him to feel again, something he was not able to do for a very long time. After the truth is learned about Mary
There is nothing he can do about it until Monday, leaving him the whole weekend to contemplate his possibilities. This situation makes his reminisce about his own fathers passing of cancer harder because all he remembers is how much pain he suffered and the guilt that he wasn’t there while he was dying. When he mentions this to his mother her reaction is the most important quote in the film, “It doesn’t matter how he died, your father’s death was not the sum of his life, it doesn’t matter how life ends it matters how it was.” Nick’s life had been carefree, his work as a photographer had enabled him to travel around the world with no responsibilities. This changed when he had come back home to help out his mother and as he mentions, “I hung round cose I was a bit worried about mum, I even brought a place as an investment for the future. I thought I would live in it for awhile before I go back overseas.” This quote lets us know that in truth Nick is really looking for someone to share his life with and offer his him support whilst dealing with his cancer.
I believe you!” I cried. “You’ve been missing for two decades. The gods did not grant us our youth together, but none of that matters now that you have returned. My heart has ached for you, and I have been faithful that you would someday return.” And with that, Odysseus and I returned to ruling Ithaca in peace, happily together at
Simon’s mission had led him to his grandfather’s memorial. It was ‘one of the most beautiful places’ he had ever seen, and he found it ‘truly breathtaking’. Upon finding his grandfathers headstone, tears welled up in Simon’s eyes and he couldn’t explain it. He suggested it was because of the ‘raw emotion’ of finally being close to his grandfather. He took many photos and felt ‘emotionally spent’ upon leaving the memorial.

Artie feels that he will never live up to his parent’s expectations of Richieu, because he was never in the War. An example of this is shown on the last page of the graphic novel, where Vladek turns over to go to sleep and calls Artie, Richieu. “I’m tired from talking, Richieu, and it’s enough stories for now…” The way Spiegleman has represented this in the text suggests to the reader that Vladek never fully loved Artie, as much as he loved his first son Richieu. This has obviously had major impacts on Arties life, and it has all primarily been caused by the Holocaust, because Vladek and Anja never fully healed after the Holocaust. Although ‘The Complete Maus’ is based around the interviews that Spiegleman has conducted with his
His family abandoned, his son not even knowing what he was like had to ask his neighbors. A comment was made to his wife about missing him and she replied, “I already have. Missing him all these years.” (Goodman 398) It is important for a man to have balance in his life. Men can get so engulfed into their work that they forget to enjoy their life and before they know it, it’s over. Phil had a heart attack because he was so stressed out from work, and he didn’t have a life outside of work so he was always stressed out.
And the only thing that kept him going was his dad but the chance of getting separated from his dad was devastating for him. He was constantly hit with life and death situations throughout the whole year he spent going from camp to camp. Elie and his father had to lie about their age to even stay alive. “Here, Kid, how old are you?” “Eighteen” This helps keep him from being burned in the crematory. He was scared, felt lonely and wanted to do anything to stay alive.
