Essay title- A personalised induction will always be more effective. In this essay I will be discussing the benefits of a personalised induction and whether it is more effective. I will be looking at the methods and techniques that are used to personalise a screed to suit working with different clients and discuss when a personalised induction would not be useful or appropriate. So what is a personalised induction? Personalised inductions come in many forms and these vary depending on what works best for your client. As stated in Hypnosis for Change it is however vital that the induction brings about the complete relaxation of body and mind. A personalised induction is effective because every person is an individual in their personality, values, beliefs, inner feelings and outlook on life, therefore our induction should cater to our client’s personal needs in order to make the client feel comfortable within an environment of choice and a feeling of safety. One of the ways that we can ascertain the best way to talk to our clients is to establish our client’s modalities. When referring to modalities we are actually talking about our primary senses such as sight, hearing, feeling, smell and taste and are often classed as secondary senses. During hypnosis we are working with the subconscious mind so, in order to achieve a successful outcome, we need to assist the client into the most beneficial state possible. When we communicate with others there are several techniques that can be used to alter the language we use to suit the needs of the client, body language, tone, and volume and far more important than the words used. Words only make up 7% of our communication, tone and volume 38% and body language 55%, so it is very important to choose carefully the wording used in hypnotic scripts when trying to bring about change in the client.
