Running head: 5 YEAR CAREER DEVELOPMENT PLAN 5 Year Career Development Plan Over the last 16 years of my adult working life, I have held an array of positions and attended several training classes all of which have each in one form or another helped to develop various skills that I have used to advance my career in collections and banking. In this paper, I will create a career development plan. I will describe my career goals, discuss promotional opportunities for career growth, identify my skills, abilities, training, education, and job satisfaction attributes, and finally develop action steps to attain my career goals and highlight any potential barriers. Career Goals The general progression of my working career has been primarily in the banking and collection industry where currently I serve as the manager of collections and consumer lending for the TruWest Credit Union. As a manager, my responsibility is to provide executive management with in-depth analysis reports detailing any adverse trends that could expose the credit union to potential risk. My career goal is to become a senior vice president of lending. A senior vice president would be responsible for additional departments within risk management. Other career goals include, gain experience and knowledge in secondary marketing, mortgages and treasury. Promotional Opportunities for Career Growth Until approximately two months ago before changes were made in risk management, promotional opportunities for my career growth at TWCU were foreseeable. Now, I am under new management after the director of our risk management and lending departments left to pursue other opportunities within the organization. At first, there seemed to be a great opportunity for promotion once the risk management executive vacated their position, but the organization quickly decided to downsize risk
