One big barrier that some of our professionals face is the use of vocabulary because some words we use mean something different in the patient language. With language barriers between patients is vital it is also important effects communication amongst co-workers, management, supervisor, faculty, administrative staff and most the patient’s family. Clear communication amongst all parties involved is the key to the success of health care service provided to the patient. One of the main cultural differences we face is that many patients and some employees are not fluent in the English language. There are some patients or employees with strong accents that can make it difficult for one to understand and may cause a misunderstanding between both parties.
Coping with these feelings, as well as caring for themselves, is an area where many caregivers seem to overlook. Many caregivers tend to give until they can no longer give, but still manage to continue to give, which is one of the tell tale signs of compassion fatigue. Caregivers need to learn to take time for themselves. Proper nutrition and hydration, exercise and plenty of rest are the basic care rituals that caregivers need to provide for themselves daily. Emotionally the caregiver must recharge frequently to avoid emotional exhaustion.
Likewise, while abuse disclosure is difficult for everyone, women report greater difficulty in naming the abuse, whereas men communicate that although they recognize abuse when it happens, they have a tendency to stay silent because it can feel emasculating to disclose (Powers et al. 2004). Another complex issue for men and women with disabilities is addressing abuse when the perpetrator is a family member or a friend who also provides personal assistance. Although many individuals have reported that their risk for abuse is lower when their provider is a family member or a friend, dealing with abuse when it arises in these relationships can be very difficult. 1.2 Communication is used to facilitate a need and two way communication is necessary to achieve understanding. When an individual has a condition that acts as a barrier to communication this can cause them to feel isolated and detached from society, friends and loved ones which in turn can lead to a person becoming depressed, lonely and withdrawn. 1.3 As a care worker I have to ensure that what I am communicating with the individuals I support with sensory loss is being understood and that I understand what is being communicated back to me. I will often have to repeat what has been said or write things down to ensure understanding. I always allow plenty of time for communication and listen to what is being communicated then repeat it back to the person so they are confident I have acknowledged and understood their message.

3.03 Manage Your Stress Essay Managing our stress sometimes can be really difficult for us, but there are a lot of techniques of how we can deal with it. Some of the these techniques can be (1) Practicing activities like listening to music, talking to a friend, drawing, writing, or spending time with a pet, (2)Taking a deep Yoga breath, or (3)Trying to maintain our minds occupied and to stop thinking about what is happening. I have experienced all of these techniques. Sometimes I get really angry, frustrated and stressed and practicing these techniques is what has helped me to calm down my fury. Practicing activities like listening to music or talking with my best friend makes me feel good; it is one of the best ways to manage my stress.
