This privilege is an important right that resonates with the pride one can feel as an American. I remember when I voted for the first time; I was so proud of being part of the process of electing our president. Even though I’m a Latino immigrant in America, voting made me feel like I was a part of this country. For an immigrant owning a house in the
Crystal Batayeh Jarenski Comm. 306 16 October 2013 Coming to America: The Real Story Living in America is a dream to many, and sometimes it is made into a reality. Immigrants on the daily enter our country in hopes of a better life and the independence and freedom our country holds. Our country has often been called the melting pot (more recently the salad bowl) because of all the culture we previously and currently still embody. People across the world come here in hopes of the “American Dream” and for some, it does happen, but at what cost?
Kwok Chung Soc Migration is synonymous with human movement from one place to another in search for better living conditions. Immigration into the United States is not a new concept as the country owes its historical origin to individuals migrating to America from other parts of the world driven by various reasons. Some came searching for land to be used in agricultural production, others came in search for education and employment opportunities, others come in search for freedom, whereas others come running away from adversaries within their countries of origin. These are just but a few of the reasons leading to high rates of immigration to the United States. Being a historical concept, immigration issues have remained part of the unique forces that continue to shape the United States and this trend is far from over.
Introduction: At its start, immigration played a leading role in the change and expansion of the U.S., as migrants traveled across thousands of miles of ocean to reach the "land of opportunity". Whether fueled by the quest to find religious and political freedom, economic prosperity, or by way of slavery, all new inhabitants shaped the economic and political structures as well as overall expansion of the United States. While many immigrants prospered in their search for a new start, many immigrants faced embittered inhabitants as job wages dropped and competitiveness rose. In all, the migration to the United States marked a time of rebirth for many as well a time of restructuring for the newly created United States joining all contributions of those who immigrated. The Irish: During the mid 1800s Ireland’s population grew rapidly and many of the people lived on small farms that produced very little, because of their poverty the people depended mainly on the potato crop.

When many search for the origin of the Italian cuisine, they find its beginning to be found during the Roman Empire around two thousand years ago (History). The Roman Empire was changing rapidly at this time. During this movement, the culinary talent of the Italians made a statement (Steendahl).
