Volleyball is a mental game, I have to keep a positive mental attitude in order to keep myself in the game. When my teammate or I shank a ball all there is to say is, “you’ll get it next time” or “shake it off”. I know I have the desire and motivation to play, it comes with the love for the game. I wish to continue this sport at Brevard. Since I can remember I have always been helping out in my community, in ways I did not even know about.
It was sensitive of the teacher to consider any language barrier by having translators present at this speech. By staying after school until 8pm the teacher is giving an opportunity to all of her students and parents to have a chance to come by personally after work to have a meeting. If the teacher cannot make herself available to her students parents she is less likely to be affective. By giving out handouts it can act as an icebreaker for some parents, as well as, more importantly continue to help parents feel more directly involved with their childs education. I believe the affect a translator has on parents is obvious, for parents of students who are learning English themselves it is paramount to any real communication.
But for my sister she has to go back and forth spending a lot of money on gas, then she has to get her home work in on time plus she has to deal with her two children and also house work. The only benefit that my sister has over me is that she is able to interact with her classmates and professor but I am not able to do that. With the subject I chose to write about I already have the opportunity to do both so I already know what to expect from both online and a classroom setting. I did my High School learning in a classroom setting and it was pretty difficult for me. Because I had no transportation and no one to take care of my children and to make things worst I was pregnant.
I would find any excuse to go swimming. I enjoyed swimming because I would get great exercise, it is great , and because it gave me stress relief. When I swam the exercise was excellent and it made me feel good. I loved that I got full body workout while I enjoyed the feeling of being in the water anyway. When I am in the water I feel so light and powerful, like I can do anything in the water.
Joseph believed that his education came for his grandmother, learning how to cook, clean, and take care of his family. While in the white mans school, the teacher always gave Joseph a hard time. " I could not comprehend everything that was happening but yet I could understand very well when I messed up or was not doing so well. The negative aspect was communicated too effectively and I became unsure of myself more and more." ( author,357).
Having a handout with this information could be an important tool for the parents to utilize all year long. Also, by understanding that everyone has different schedules and trying to be available for meetings in the evenings at least once a week, she is showing sensitivity to those parents that can make the time and get to the school for evening meetings. By giving step-by-step directions to access her via email, those parents with access to a computer will benefit by being able to contact her that way as well. The teacher is showing insensitivity to the parents of children in her classroom in a couple of ways. First, by using the term “disclosure document”, she makes the assumption that the parents to whom she is speaking will understand
My senior year is very important and that is why I must use it efficiently. There are many things I hope to accomplish during my senior year. Graduation is my top priority because if I do not graduate my future will be in jeopardy. I hope to get good in the areas in which I have been training for. Getting into college so that I can be successful is the main goal in my life is.
On my first day of kindergarten my mom took me to school. She walked me to class and stayed with me for a few minutes then she had to leave to go to work. I was okay for a little while then I started crying. I did not have my mom around and I did not have my grandmother around. My teacher let me call my mom and my mom told me “I was a big boy, I have to go to school and that everything would be ok, stop crying and that she loved me”.
Mrs. Brandt talked about her concern of my comprehending level not increasing at the same rate as my classmates. She told them she had been working with me one on one, but that I needed more practice and more one on one time that she could not provide. She suggested that my parents take me to a tutor or to Sylvan Learning Center. Mrs. Brandt stressed that comprehending was a very important skill to have and that if I did not acquire the skill I would struggle with literature the rest of my life. My parents came home that night and told me what Mrs. Brandt’s concern was.
(p.18). Here we see that she refrains from discussing her own thoughts and emotions from her children. This line indicates her struggle, and further in the story, hopes she would open up her mind to her mother to reveal her current feelings and emotions. When she arrives at her mother's, she is appalled during the few hours of her lunch visit with her. Her mom lives in a very closed in and elegant home where she was also self-contained.
