Clapper Criminology-10 August 4, 2012 Linda Jenks Ways to protect myself from Victimization There are many ways that people can become a victim of a crime. There are different ways or things that a person can do to prevent themselves from being a victim. A person must first look at the area that they live in to see what the crimes are that are happening around them where they live. Doing a little research would not hurt so that they can protect themselves or take the measures needed before the crime happens to them. After some research one can start getting and doing what they need to protect themselves. For a crime committed on the street never go for a walk by yourself at night because this makes you more prone to rapist and stalkers. Never walk down alley ways or dark streets (Perez, 2012). Keep all handbags close so no one can try to take it from you. Lock all vehicle doors when you are in it and when you leave it parked some place. Never leave money lying around keep it close to you. If home alone make sure curtains all closed this way no one can watch you undress or watch every move you make. Do not list any telephone numbers in the phonebook because you can get a creep calling your home. Lock all doors and windows when away from home. Keep track of what you own in the home just in case anything gets stolen. Keep garage doors closed when home or away and you are not in it (Perez, 2012). Think about adding an alarm system just in case someone wants to break in. To be protected from identity theft one needs to look at places they are putting their information. Never tell anyone your personal information as they can steal this. Never give personal information over the internet because this is a way to scam people so they can use their information in all the
