I would use technology by setting up emails and using an electronic appointment book to schedule meetings. I can also set up a web based conferencing system for overseas meetings. I can ensure that I maintain a work/life balance is by deciding which is more important, having work goals and having life goals and very careful planning and most importantly being organised. I would ensure that my personal knowledge and skills meet required competency standards by asking for feedback from colleagues and management.

Manage own performance in a business environment The purpose of planning work is to ensure that I make the most effective use of my time and knowing what I have got planned throughout the day the lowers my chances of my work clashing with a meeting or other tasks. If I make a written account of my plans and my manager asks what I have done, I am easily able to show them and be accountable for my work. It is always important to agree targets so I know I am able to complete and reach them. Assertiveness: Assertiveness is one of the key essential skills in the modern working environment which means standing up for what you want, stating your needs clearly and expressing opposition where possible. However, be mindful that your aim is to solve the problem and get the best result and not to be seen as being aggressive. Being faced with situation such as managing difficult tenant/service users/staff, dealing with aggressive people such as drug users, mental health, or bullying at work etc. policy and procedures should be in place to handle individual situation. If handled correctly, there are benefits when assertiveness is applied such as: better time management, increased self esteem and the ability to negotiate more effectively.
The Career Plan Building Activities made me realize I have strengths in the areas of coping with pressure, delivering result, following instructions, and adapting to change. These strengths will help me to be an excellent leader and encourage employees to do their best to deliver positive results for the company. I will be able to handle any circumstance and make beneficial and effective decisions. I will have to make sure I am thinking critically when evaluating arguments. I know how to recognize fallacies and can judge the validity and credibility of the source.
