Types of creative activities available in health and social care and early year’s setting. Task 1 A creative activity is something that you do that is enjoyable and fun. It can involve being imaginative and inventive because it uses the imagination to create ideas that you may do as an activity. Creative activities can also involve using your emotions. Sometimes it will be working in a team or on your own. It can relieve boredom or help you make new friends. Creative activities allow the service user to learn and develop new skills. Creative activities also help the service user to build confidence and self-esteem which will allow them to work with others and make new friends. Moreover, Creative activities allow the service user to express their feelings and keeps them engaged. Furthermore, creative activities give service users something new and exciting to do. There are seven creative activities that service users can do, these are: imaginative, intellectual, physical, developmental, medical, social and emotional. Social Social activities allow service users to build on their social skills and make new friends. Social activities can help improve relationships and build on team work as they are working alongside each other. Social activities also involve service users socialising. Service users can also collaborate with different people who they have never met before and form new relationships. All of this involves communicating with each other to do an activity. Social activities include: singing, drama, reminiscence therapy, mime and dance. An example of a social activity in an early year’s setting can be singing. Singing is a social activity as it allows the service users to work together in a team. For example, if they were in a choir they would be socialising with one another.
