This quote discusses that as a people of this nation we have a responsibility to become working and independent individuals who strive for the best. Also, I feel we are setting an example for our children which teaches them that they do not have to look for a handout from the government, but work hard and earn a living as a contributing effort to our society. In this essay, I will discuss my views on the essay written by Coontz. I will do this by using quotes from the book and relating them back to personal examples in which I feel are important. Welfare is a common part of our world today; both in the present and past.
Getting to know the person over a period of time I feel is vital, you can not push a relationship and must let it take it’s natural course whilst showing you understand the welfare needs of the individual and are able to put into practice those needs for the child. It is important in our setting that staff works consistently and all contribute to the Childs needs, we must all help the child with learning and development and ensure as staff we are saying and showing the same. Every child matters govern our principles and we are able to follow minimum care standards whilst following the child care act and working towards and with ofsted inspections and reg 33 visits. My experience suggests that you must have knowledge and understanding of the child, speaking to other professionals who are linked with the child to ensure you have all the relevant information enables you to do this. We must work as a team and share our experiences relating to that child.
They aim to improve the opportunities and experiences available to children and their practitioners by focusing on the Offering more support for the poorest and most vulnerable children to ensure they all receive the same level of education and opportunities as their peers regardless of background with greater quality provisions in place to meet these requirements. The second department which makes up the education government (National) is the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) The department invests in skills and education to promote trade, boost innovation and help people to start and grow a business. (3) They are responsible for working with further and higher education providers to teach students the skills needed to compete in the global working environment. They provide funding to universities for long-term research and introduced a loans system for students in further education. The National Government are responsible for, but not limited to; Setting the National Curriculum, ensuring it is balanced and broadly based Setting targets for pupil achievement Funding research into education based projects concerning children and young people Appointing staff
They believed they had a responsibility to improve themselves, to be the best they could be, to improve their abilities, and to help thy neighbors. I am quite sure that includes class and homework. These principles not only swayed our educational system, but are often imitated in U.S. foreign policy. I was told that education is simply the soul of a society
Apart from the many other common reasons for becoming a teacher (“I feel a calling to teaching”; “it’s a chance to positively impact the community” and “children need good/better role models”), ultimately, I believe that teaching is one of the most rewarding professions, and that it will lead to a brighter future for myself, and my family. I’m certain people would perceive pedagogy as a career that would continually put someone through a tremendous amount of stress, and although this could be true, it is why people should be praised for deciding to pursue this profession. Teachers are responsible for shaping children, building their character, and helping them work towards their aspirations. In essence, teachers are the people who create the future. There is a current urgency for new teachers, and with these fresh and youthful minds being prepared to enter into the field we can expect a big change in the methods and techniques as well as new ideas being brought into the world of
He believed that all students should have the opportunity to take part in their own learning. Education was not only a place to gain content knowledge, but was a place to learn how to live. Schools shouldn’t just be a place to learn a pre-determined set of skills but rather to realize one’s full potential and their ability to use these skills. He said, “An ounce of experience is better than a ton of theory, simply because it is only in the experience that any theory has vital and verifiable significance.” In Dewey’s opinion the role of teachers are social servants. They are there to assist children on how to act appropriately on ideas they form themselves.
Practitioners need to praise children and encourage them to succeed in their learning and give them the support they need. Practitioners need to build positive relationship with not only their key children and other children in their setting but also with the children’s parents this gives them a better chance of giving children more support at home. See appendix 1. At the setting parents can get involved and this will benefit planning for the child as parents know their children better than anyone and they will know their likes and dislikes and will be able to help them with their development. See appendix 2 .
Another alternative is to further your education. Furthering your education puts you in a higher percentile of people in the job market. A child interested in education should be fostered and encouraged to seek and obtain goals. The school system is very important in this process, the higher quality teachers that are in schools supporting their students can play a very important role in stopping the poverty
Education is what allows you to make the correct decisions in life and hence allows you to make a positive contribution to society as Nelson stated. Considering the rate at which our country is developing and has developed, the standard of education in this country is something that can't be taken as a joke and neglected. If America's educational system doesn't stop producing failures and cant motivate students enough to stay in schools to graduate, problems like poverty, high crime rates and
There are so many intricacies involved in the process; nevertheless, people are the most important element in creating justice for all, regardless of social status, color of skin, English language barriers, and cultural background (Theoharis, 2009). My major focus as a SJL is to empower and cultivate in my DACC colleagues in the advising center a passion for our students. A deep understanding of our students needs is essential in order to cooperate, and work together with a heartfelt passion to build a strong community college that practices equity and accessibility. By building strong relationships with our students and their families we can create a climate of belonging. This framework was provided in chapter I by Theoharis (2009), and is essential in sifting out bad practices, attitudes, established rules and guidelines, racism, and discrimination.
