Many people in our nation today think that the polity on gun control is not strict enough. People all around the country are obsessed with the idea that everyone who is armed has the intention to threaten or injure others. The need to grant ownership of a weapon to an individual is often argued as unimportant. As bad as it may sound, many gun owners in fact hope that they meet a situation in which they are permitted to use their firearm for its specified use. The term “self-defense” is a very touchy subject and cannot be taken
He had to come up with a plan to satisfy the House of Representatives and Congress. Some pros for gun control would be that it might bring the number of accidental shootings down. An example would be that a household would not have a lot of guns just sitting around, and the little children could not just shoot it by accident. Also, depending on what guns they would rule out, the gangs would not be able to get a hold of certain guns as easily. I am not saying they would not get them, but it would be more difficult to find them.
One can do many things to you with a gun in their hand, from a robbery to a murder. Simply, most Americans are afraid of one another. Besides, are guns really the best protection against others? It is always possible to have a decent alarm system for robberies, to have a dog when outside in the neighborhood or simply learn martial arts for self-protection. Martial arts are created for self defense so why don’t people spend more time learning them instead of wasting their money on a gun which can break or be used against their own will?
The application of stricter gun control laws will in fact hinder law enforcement agencies across America. During the Brady Band law enforcement agencies, although approved, had complications getting what is considered to be an assault rifle for official duties. Many law enforcement agencies had to settle for a less superior weapon than the combatant they faced. This event is a far too common on street patrol across America. When our trust is put into someone else’s hands do you want these everyday hero’s to be out gunned by superior weaponry.
But in all reality, if guns weren’t around, people would still find a way to do crazy messed up things to kill people. Yes with stricter laws on gun control there will be less shootings, but what will replace guns? President Obama’s attempt to make owning guns harder doesn’t invade your rights. Having rules to protect people is all that should matter. While some worry that they cant do what they want, the United States
This is the story that any parents, in major cities and small towns alike, worry about when their son or daughter are not in the house with them. Gun control within the United States has both advantages and disadvantages within it. While they can protect and help us survive by helping us hunt for food and survival, sometimes a gun can be seen from a different perspective of usefulness when placed in the wrong hands. Guns owners and those who are for more regulations of guns aren’t always on opposite sides of the debate. Many gun owners agree that a change must be made in order to insure a safer
In addition, Shaffer effectively defends her idea that banning handguns will have no effect on reduction of violent crime, but may actually increase instances of gun crimes. This is due to the fact that civilians would no longer be able to defend themselves effectively. The second article, “Gun control standoff” both sides remain unsolved in bitter debate. Gun control continues to bring out the worst in public opinions. Jost states: “Gun control supporters blame the high rate of violent crime and the large number of gun accidents and suicides on the easy availability of firearms and
When people don’t have guns to protect themselves they could at least have the illusion of having a gun, but if you have gun control you could not have that safety. If there were a test or survey you should take to see if you would be responsible enough to own a gun would be a good idea to make it not as hard for the good people to buy guns. It is a good idea to have people that are smart gun owners than having dumb ones. More people are buying guns for self defense “more than 2.6 Billion dollars of firearms for self defense, 96 million background checks have been completed, and the number of licensed gun carriers has doubled. The result has been an 18% reduction of out nation’s aggravated assault plus robbery rate.” (Menkus) this shows people that the more good citizens you have with guns the safer it is for the rest of the people.
If they take away guns, they might as well ban knives alcohol and other dangerous things, but would also be nearly impossible to achieve. If someone intends on killing another, they are going to go forward with it whether they have a gun or not. A gun cannot aim and shoot at its victim by itself, a person with intent has to hold it in their hands to pull the trigger and make the gun
Lastly, we need guns for protection. People can only get away with shooting at people if nobody is shooting back. In a world where everyone carries around a gun everywhere they go, there would be no mass shootings. Sure, bad people would have guns, but they would be crazy to think of trying to shoot people in public. But even if a mentally ill person did try it, the public would easily overwhelm him or her and there would be no mass shootings.
