The amount of sport shown on television every week has increased significantly and this is having an impact on live sports events. Do you think the benefits of having more televised sport are greater than the disadvantages? It’s not wrong to say that sport has a great importance in our life. When it is not practiced, it is watched by a multitude of people thanks to dedicated tv channels. In particular, the increase of televised sports in these years has slowly changed the perception of it and our idea about live sports events. Personally, I think that this process has produced more advantages than disadvantages. First of all, the majority of people can’t easily reach any kind of sport event physically, mainly because of distances and costs but also for a lot of other practical reasons (work engagements, illness, etc). So, broadcasting is definitely a great way to support your favorite team directly from your house, being comfortable and safe from trouble, spending no more than the cost of the subscription. For example, I have got a bunch of girlfriends who follow SCC Napoli but prefer to watching it from home rather than go to the stadium because they are afraid of possible violence between different teams fans. Secondly, a great advantage of the televised sport is its variety. Thanks to the number of channels dedicated to sports event, we can watch almost any kind of sport, including the most uncommon such as snooker or table tennis. Consequently, this could be useful to the spreading of these sports and to make a wider public aware of them by the masses, mainly accustomed to commercialized sports such as football or Formula One. For instance, personally I would not pay a ticket to go to see a diving contest, but I definitely like watching it whenever television transmits it.
