Apple is one of the most famous and popular companies in the world now; the reason for its popularity not only is their innovative products and pioneering ideas, but is also their form of advertisement. Steve Jobs, the founder of the company “Apple”, once said, “It’s not about pop culture, and it’s not about fooling people, and it’s not about convincing people that they want something they don’t.” So then, how did his company advertise their products? There are many different propaganda techniques that a company can use to persuade customers, and Apple is one of the companies that use these techniques a lot. Apple uses the propaganda technique "testimonial" to make people see connections between the company and their featured celebrities. One of Apple’s most famous use of the propaganda technique “testimonial” is from the advertisements from the campaign “Think Different” (1997-2002) because Apple used well known influential thinkers.
(Title) Throughout history, the human race has classified certain years as years that will always be remembered for a stunning invention, event, or discovery that took place. Grove called this drastic change a "strategic inflection point-a point at which a company comes face to face with a massive change, one that is powerful enough to threaten the life of the enterprise.” (Krames, 2003 p. 141) Michael Dell on the other hand, was a technology minded college student who, from a very young age, fiddled with electronics and eventually built computers out of his dorm room. He created computers to the specifications of his customer, and this technique of focusing on the customer’s wants would one day lead to his largest contribution to his self-made business. His largest contribution to Dell Computer Corporation was the Dell direct model. The model focused on the customer, their needs, wants, and desires, without the need for a
Steve Jobs is the co-founder & CEO of Apple Computers. On the other hand, Bill Gates is the co-founder and current Chairman and Chief Software Architect of Microsoft. He uses this as an introduction to continue strengthening the argument he made in the previous chapter. Adding on to his argument that successful people are the beneficiaries of extraordinary opportunities, he talks about how in order to master a skill, one must practice for at least ten thousand hours. He goes on to say that luck also plays an integral role because you have to be doing the right thing at the right time.

Unfortunately for Welch, his predecessor Reg Jones was a man who had left a legacy that seemed difficult to beat. During his years as GE’s CEO, one of Reg Jones many successes was the growth of strategic planning. Jones accomplishments also included being voted three times “CEO of the Year”, named “CEO of the decade” and The Wall Street Journal had named him a “management legend”. Being able to fill these big shoes was not the only challenge that Welch faced. At the time of his appointment, the U.S. economy was in a recession with unemployment at an all-time high.
