IMPLEMENT PERSONS CENTRED APPROCHES IN HEALTH AND SOCIAL CARE (4222-207) 1.2 Person Centred Planning is important for service users . It’s a process for continual listening and learning, focussing on what is important to service users throughout their lives, it helps with their day to day task and activity’s enables staff to manage time and keeps their family and their friends involved. As an example, I sat down with one of our service users and went through what he’d like to do to help him be more independent through PCP. Once we had talked about his options, this part of his PCP was put in place so that he can regularly go to the shops get to get himself toiletries and his daily newspaper, this also helped him to get to know the shop keepers and create friendships outside of his usual home environment . PCP was created in response to some specific problems with the way in which society responds to people with disabilities.
As an enabler, the social worker must engage the client using varying approaches in order to allow the client to create the conditions needed to succeed (Miley, 2011). The enabler works with the client to meet life challenges and carry out tasks, such as getting enrolled in the GED course and securing daycare services. As a social work broker, it is important to link clients with resources that are available within the community and to provide referrals when necessary (Miley, 2011). In this situation, connecting Stacy with the GED Program and daycare services assume this role set. As a case manager for Stacy, a slight degree of oversight and guidance is useful to both assist in guiding the client toward completing goals and objectives, but also to help empower the client to want to do it themselves.
As defined in the An Introduction to the Profession of Social Work Becoming a Change Agent textbook, “generalist social work practice is defined as social work practice backed with broad range of training an primarily used to guide and coordinate service” (p.155). To me a generalist social worker basically practice skills to help aid families, communities, groups and individuals with their life problems. There are several types of employment/occupational settings for social work practice. Some are child social workers, family social workers, school social workers, healthcare social workers, mental health social workers and substance abuse social workers. Child, family, and school social workers are pretty much in the same category.

For example QUOT E CQC STANDARDS My expectations of my job role is to be competent in dealing with situations that arise: for example if a Carer was in a situation that they felt uncomfortable in, I would try to overcome that for them by talking and working out a solution for everyone, with either shadowing until they were confident or if unsuccessful moving that Carer onto another Service User. I would reflect on this and try to evaluate the good and bad points from the situation and try to learn from them. Either by research through mediums like the internet, reading or asking my Registered Manager of solutions that she may come up with. This then promotes good practice by continually evaluating situations and improving the quality of service provided by the Agency. In my work place setting which is mainly office based, I access sources of support for my own personal development

Week Three Learning Team Reflection As a team member, the lines of communication must remain open. In most corporate environments, managers often find that delegation presents as key to tackling his or her increasing responsibilities and in meeting company objectives. Effective delegation requires the delegator to identify the right person for the job. First clarifying to the associate what he or she wants the individual to do remains essential to effective delegation. Next, specify the range of employee discretion and allowing employees to become a part of the business will help the employees understand why the company has to make decisions for individual jobs.
THE CONTEXT OF SOCIAL WORK The aim of this essay is to seek to examine the roles, skills and functions of social workers in England and Wales. It will try to identify and discuss current changes in Children’s Services and the Personalisation Agenda in Adult Social Care. The essay will then try to relate social policy to social work, describe and explain some core professional principles and values of social work, and analyse the service user and carer expectations in relation to social work. Social work has been defined as a profession which promotes social change, problem solving in human relationships and to empowerment and liberation of people to enhance wellbeing,(International Association of Schools of Social Work and the International Federation of Social Workers). It is about enabling people to take action for themselves.Banks (2006).Thompson (2009) argues that part of social work is to do society’s ‘dirty’ work.He goes on to say that it involves carrying out tasks that the wider public will give a wide berth, and prefer not to know about or deal with, things like abuse, poverty, deprivation and exploitation. Some key roles and functions are to prepare for and work with individuals, families, carers, groups and communities,to assess their needs and circumstances.Social workers minimise and manage risk to self and others.A social worker is expected to be accountable for their own practice, having subject knowledge, managing, presenting and sharing records and reports with colleagues and other relevant professionals The skill to demonstrate professional competence by researching, analysing and using current knowledge to attain the best social work practice is also invaluable. As such, social workers need to have people skills to be able to work effectively with service users. As Parris (2012) states, being able to assess is a high skill activity
