Family Systems Tools Report Learning Team D: Julie Lynn Carswell, Brandee Lopez, Chanda Jean Louis, and Toni Taylor BSHS/312 April 24, 2011 Cheryl Ritter Introduction – Chanda Jean-Louis There are a number of appropriate system techniques or tools that therapists professionals use when helping a client. These system techniques are reframing, boundary setting, sculpting, genogram, multi-generation transmission and power gram, which help to facilitate change and break dysfunctional patterns. Each technique has its own approach and the therapists would need to know some things about the client to know which approach would best be beneficial for their client. These tools help the therapists find out how each member of the family sees the problem and to form first impressions of the family’s functioning. Reframing – Brandee Lopez Reframing is a tool used “to facilitate change and break dysfunctional patterns” (Parrott, 2003, p. 378).
Describe where to get information and advice about handling information. You can gather information and advice about handling information from senior members of staff or supervisors who have the experience and knowledge to help you and you also have your companies policies and procedures guidelines to follow. Websites are also a good tool to use for guidance about handling information such as www.gov.uk/data-protection/the-data-protection-act Bii. Explain what a social care worker should do if they have worries over recording, storing or sharing information A social care worker would put their concerns in writing and be clear about dates and times, and what steps you took and any responses you have had. You would first talk to your senior or manager.
Once I‘ve identified these I look at the type of training opportunity which is appropriate and relevant to my role, and formulate a plan to how this will be achieved. In my case I want to become a registered manager, so in preparation I have taken part in formal training including: • Advanced medication • Professional supervision Also doing this, Health and social care diploma level 5, whilst working through this it is helping to identify areas I need more training in which I plan to arrange training for myself i.e. Mental Capacity Act. Alongside formal training I also ensure I get informal training, for example: • Sitting in on resident Reviews with my manager, then moved on to doing them on my own with prior advice from my manager. • Getting help and advice for manager on computer skills as this is something I need to improve on.
The preceptor has a job to ensure the new nurse is competent with skills to provided adequate, safe nursing care to patients. The preceptor has to wear many hats with the new nurse such as role model, educator, friend, confidant, and socializer. The preceptor must observe the new nurse and evaluate the skills of the nurse. Ideally the preceptor will explain a process or skill, demonstrate it, and then watch as the new nurse demonstrates as it is performed independently. Precepting involves a commitment on both the preceptor and the new nurse.
Samantha Mcintyre NVQ 3 Unit 2 – 1.1, 1.2, 2.1, 2.2, 2.3, 3.1, 3.2 Task 1.2 Mentor Meeting It is important for a carer to obtain feedback as this will let them know where they are doing their job well and also to be aware of any improvement that can be made in order to meet the needs of the service users. Improvements could include attending training courses or changing their attitude in some way, or simply remembering the dress code for work. Everyone reacts differently to receiving constructive feedback. Some may listen to all that is being said and take it all in and understand the reasoning for this, they will then make any changes they need to improve themselves. Others can become defensive as they may feel that they are doing everything right and that there are no changes that need to be made.
An individual has just come back from hospital after having an operation. TASK 2 Your work is running a campaign to improve staff understanding of all aspects of person centred care. You have been asked to create the following materials: • A poster which describes a range of person centred approaches to care • A handout which explains why person centred values are important and how they influence social care work • A poster that explains the factors which can contribute to the wellbeing of individuals • A handout that explains the link between identity, self image and self esteem • A guide for social care workers
When studying a vocational health and social care course it is usually required that you carry out work placements. There are so many settings that you could work in like: in a nursery, day centre, primary school, secondary school, hospital, care home, residential home, homeless shelter, and clinics. You will come into contact with many professionals and so need to act professional too, and you will also see many service users like: injured people, mentally ill people, terminally ill people, people dealing with a bereavement, young children, pregnant women, and so many more. It is vital that you follow what the staff tell you and to respect others. Before starting work placement anywhere you need to make sure that you have a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check completed and have shown it to a member of staff at your placement setting.

In the meeting the company would need to discuss the evacuation or rescue process, so that they know what procedure is and how to go about doing it correctly. The company then would have to explain to their employees what is going to take place after the evacuation process has been completed. Then the company would ensure them that their loved ones have been made aware of the ongoing situation. This should show that the company does indeed care about the employees as well as their families. The company should give the employees a chance to provide counseling and offer it to those who may need or want the counseling.
