Kieran Garcia English Composition 1-Section B12 January 30 Cooper River Bridge Run Every April for the past seven years of my life I have taken part in one of the largest road races in the country, the Cooper River Bridge Run. Born in Charleston South Carolina this race is the home to roughly fifty thousand runners each year. This journey across the bridge is approximately six point three miles in length. Myself along with ten of my closest friends drop everything to make our way down to the humid, smoldering city of Charleston in an attempt conquer the challenges of the bridge that we have become so familiar with. I’ll never forget my first trip. I was introduced to this tradition along with the sport of running my seventh grade year at Blue Ridge Middle School. After only my first day of cross country practice, my coach, also current English teacher at the time, invited me to join him along with twelve other high school and college students to my first of many trips down to Charleston for the Cooper River Bridge Run. We all eventually found each other at the finish line and regrouped so we could take a bus back to our hotel. After we recovered the best we could, we went to Sticky Fingers to relax and eat as much as we were willing to spend. The hardest part of the weekend was over and we had survived. The rest of the day was spent in the hotel pool, talking about how great the weekend was and who would be returning next year. I remember thinking to myself how amazing it was to have only spent two and a half days with this group of people and feeling like I had known them my entire life.
