Joining the United States Army Benjamin Woodruff Everest University 24 July 2011 Joining the United States Army or any other military service can be a big decision for anyone. Why would someone want to put themselves in harm’s way or even be away from their family for that long or that far away? Some people join the military for the honor and prestige of defending our country. Other’s join to pay for college or even to see the world. Whatever their reason is it is going to be the biggest decision that anyone is going to make.
In his 2000 bid for the presidency Ralph Nader campaigned against the corporate powers dominance in the political landscape as well as the need for change in the manner of how presidential races are held. He also wanted universal healthcare, the legalization of hemp, and free universal education - meaning college would be free for every American citizen. Nader ran on a similar platform in 2004 and 2008. Opposition to the War in Iraq was one of the biggest issues in the 2004 campaign and Nader had always been at the forefront of this opposition. Nader has made it quite clear to his fellow citizens that he will always do his utmost to ensure that the rights of consumers are upheld and defended.
Our country prides itself on encouraging its citizens to better themselves through education. (P) While its priority has been high school graduation, many jobs now require college degrees, making higher education more important than ever. While I understand that every American should be expected to sacrifice during this hard time, just as we were in World War II, I feel that this particular sacrifice would put our country in an even worse state. (S) Our work force will not be prepared to handle nor understand the advancements that we have strived so hard to achieve. College is made to prepare students with the newest information possible, so that we can constantly be improving ourselves and be able continue to compete with the world’s leading nations.
Also the college could pay students for lunch money as well as travel money but again because of low budgets the college can only afford travel money. Basically the college need a lot to improve on. Having a small budget as affected the college member’s decision making and they are not able to do much for students and this has caused problems for many students especially those who simply can’t afford to attend college. The college could be re considering their decisions and ensuring they think about what is best for the students. This can impact marketing planning in good and bad ways if students tell examiners what they think about the college so it all depends on what the students think.
Thus, our society becomes more dangerous, depleted and dishonest every year. With one simple – albeit radical – move, our government could eliminate these problems and help our children and our country reach their potential. Mandatory military service, or conscription, could cure many of our societal ills and allow American teenagers to truly reach their potential. Mandatory military service is one of the oldest forms of national service and is common to both democratic and non-democratic countries. Such democratic countries as Austria, Brazil, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Israel, Mexico, Norway, Russia, South Korea, Sweden, Switzerland and Turkey require male and occasionally female citizens to participate in military service when they become 18 years old.
Hello my name is Christian Garcia and I’m here you to tell you about my experiences that have impacted my life towards the right direction. I was born and raised in Los Angeles, California in December of 93, growing up I didn’t have much. My parents struggled to pay rent but thanks to god he at least helped us have food on the table for me, my older sis, and younger sister which was born later on. I wasn’t the smartest kid, but I’d like to say I was a late bloomer which helped me later on in middle school to work hard, and earn success the old fashion way. I had several opportunities that could have changed my educational and personal life, but I chose not to.
The ride home was a time where I really began to understand Mikayla, her father, and where she comes from. Without his truck, I would have never been able to reach this level of understanding of my girlfriend. It helped Mikayla and I reach a new level on our relationship. Now, I have seen her at her worst, and things can only get better from here. In all I’ve spent about 10 hours riding in his truck, just listening to him talk about his life and what he thinks about my relationship with his daughter.
A personal experience that has made a lasting impression on me has to be when I moved out of my parent’s house. Having to find my own apartment and start paying my own bills made me realize life in the real world is not as easy as people think my parents made it look way too easy having to find time to wash my clothes and clean under my bed was not as easy as you might imagine. I have a lot to get used to even still. I can’t even go to sleep without eating a bowl of cereal, which some nights I don’t even have because of Lack of money and
Just like many other people in the world I live paycheck to paycheck but I have learned that putting back as little as five dollars out of check and keeping all your change will help you out more than you think. I have to deal with the stresses of everyday life and so much more and I have given up my youth to do so. There have been and still will be days that I don’t want to go to class or work but just taking a few minutes to look back on all that I have been through and accomplished helps tremendously and gives me the strength to keep
Why One Years’ Service should be Mandatory Steven Wunderlin Grantham University Mr. Timothy Goss English Composition 6/7/2011 Why One Years’ Service should be Mandatory Because serving in the military is important for the defense of the United States, and military service instills ideals like integrity, selfless service and honor, the United States government should require all high school graduates to enlist for at least one year in the United States military. In this essay I intend to prove that one year’s active duty service the U.S. military is what every high school graduate needs to begin their working career. Many might argue that this action is unnecessary since we have what is called the Selective Service Act. This act requires that all eighteen year old males register with the government in case of an emergency that would require more manpower than our current military can provide. I believe that this act should be repealed and replaced with a law that requires all high school graduates whether they are male or female enlist for at least one year in the active duty military.
