FreeWriting In the article, “FreeWriting”, Mr. Elbow states,” next time you write, notice how often you stop yourself from writing down something you were gonna write down. Or else cross out what’s been written. “Naturally” you say, “it wasn’t any good”. I can definitely relate to the view Peter Elbow takes in his article. Starting an assignment is always the hardest step for me .Like in the very beginning, when you are digging for words to tie your point together; it’s always a struggle building that creative momentum.
Role Strain: I try to be a good mother and wife, but I find that I do not have enough hours in the day to do all the house cleaning, keep the children free of germs, shop properly to provide the right nutrients for the children and my husband, to keep the car in good order, get them to school safely, to keep up to date with the world news, to provide them with the right moral guidelines in world which is constantly changing and It becomes a real strain to try to keep up with all that needs to be done. My husband works for the City of Conway so he is out of the house by 6:00am and doesn’t get home until 5:00pm. So, everything falls on me, all day, and everyday. I try to find some balance and tell myself that no matter what I do there is always going to be more that needs to be done that won’t get done. I have to convince myself that tomorrow is another day and what didn’t get done to day can get done tomorrow; otherwise I can literally drive myself crazy.
Many parents do not have the time to escort their children everywhere they need to go. They have jobs and activities of their own to attend. At the age of sixteen, students get involved in more after school activities and with a license, they can drive themselves back and forth places without being an inconvenience to their parents. There is no reason to raise the minimum driving age, but there are plenty of reasons not to. No matter how old the kids getting licenses are, there will be car accidents ending in death.
Say Hello to my Little Study Buddy Most adults will arguably tell someone college is ‘the time of your life’ but what they forget to mention is the hardships and stresses it actually brings. There is a whole new curriculum, much harder than a high school one, and for most people their first time living on their own. One must learn more material in a shorter length of time from difficult assignments that will require a majority of one’s leisure time. The harsh reality is that students without parental supervision will unfortunately want to waste their free time doing more entertaining things than cramming their brains with gratuitous amount of new statistics, formulas and information. Students will usually opt out of performing homework
However, it took longer time to go to work since he just needed 40 minutes to drive to work but he needed more or less two hours to go to work by Caltrain. He complained about the inconvenience with his colleagues and he found that his colleagues also had the same problems. Some of his colleagues chose to pool car, which means people drive to work with other strangers who work nearby and share the gas price. And they said that as gas prices increased, their wages were not increased as fast as gas prices. As a result, the increasing of gas prices bring inconvenience to people’s lives.
I was used to live in a big house with open windows, and doors. And walk to the grocery store or ride a bus to go anywhere, but here in U.S you have to have car because places are far from one another, I need a car to go the grocery store, even to go to the church and if you want to ride the bus you have to wait at least an hour. And houses in U.S are very expensive so a foreign person like me has to live in a small apartment and that was the most difficult thing for me, get used to live in an apartment I could not open the windows nor the doors, for me living that way it was like living in a prison. After living ten years in U.S I have learned to overcome all the obstacles that at the beginning were difficult to overcome. I am now in college; I know how to communicate with American people in English.
So, if he doesn’t take his stuff which he needs during the day, he has drive about an hour to go back home which it cost him almost10$. So, instead of making money for that hour, he loses it. He has to spend money and lose time by driving. Besides saving time and money, carrying stuff that people need throughout the day also makes people more prepared. People feel confidence because they have every thing that they need for their day’s activities.
The reasons some students do not have a book for class for a lack of funds, transportation, and motivation. First, some students are not completely prepared for class because they do not have the funds to purchase the required textbook. The most common reason for students having a lack of funds to purchase books is the fact that textbooks are so expensive. For example, at the Alabama State bookstore, a new Biology 127/128 lecture book will cost students $150.00. When students can purchase the exact same book on the Internet or in the collegiate bookstore for $80.00 to $95.00 that is a shame.
Online classes required self determination and a lot time. This is definitely not what I had in mind! Procrastination and grades don’t mix well and the outcome has many consequences. Happiness is hard to achieve when you are always in a rush to finish a task that was supposed to be done weeks or even months before hand. For example I waited all summer to sign up for fall classes and as a result I got stuck with most classes that other students didn’t want to take.
We sat down and worked out a solution we ordered a new computer, we only hope this helps us get more college work done and in a timely manner leaving us with less stress. Loosing days at work to go to school has put a huge struggle on me even though I know school is important. But having less money come in is a huge stressor that I have not found a way to deal with except telling myself that after I get an education I will get a better job. After sitting down and thinking very hard about this I have developed my action plan. One big thing that seems to help people deal with stress is going to the gym.
