According to Harper (2006),”The primary purpose for motivational strategies is to develop or to trigger an inner desire to begin or complete an activity.” (Harper, 2006). In this summery, the writer will create a series of motivational strategies for each of the three employees who participated in taking the assessments. These strategies will aid the manager when he or she is trying to determine how to deal with the employees on an individual basis. Willie is a strong employee who is overall satisfied with his job and has a self-awareness regarding his attitude, adaptability, and ability to get a job done in a timely manner. Willie’s area of opportunity for growth is being able to stay focused on the tasks at hand. The manager plans to create a task list in which Willie can stay focused on what needs to be accomplished within his work day. The theory we chose to motivate him through is the hygiene factor. According to Herzberg, “The hygiene factors can only be used as motivational factors that yield positive satisfaction. These factors will be called satisfiers. Psychological needs that lead to these satisfiers are recognition, sense of achievement, responsibility, and how meaningful the work is to be done” (Robbins & Judge, 2011). Kareem has a strong ability to stay focused and remain on task and finishes projects on time. Kareem is overall dissatisfied with his job. In order for him to feel accomplished he must stay on a project and have something to stay focused on. The manager will generate a plan for Kareem that includes having an alternative work arrangement in place. For Kareem, like Willie, the manager will also create a core list with times so that he can have something to focus on visually.
