The body needs to maintain homeostasis in order to stay alive. Oxygen and glucose are needed so that cells can respire and produce energy in the form of ATP and is generated by anaerobic glycolysis. Around 80% of the body’s lactic acid diffuses from the skeletal muscles and is transported to the liver for conversion back to glucose or glycogen.
