Most of my study time is planned for when Lois has gone to bed. Evaluation; Having Saturday off work or studying is really important to me and I need to recharge my batteries sometimes. I have lots of family and relaxing time but this can also be a time friends or family come over to us. As this is a normal office week this cannot always happen so sometimes it can be tough. Analysis; I have 22 months to go on this course and I am prepared to do whatever it takes to get the best out of me.
MY LITERATE LIFE HISTORY The very first memories that I recall regarding my literate life history have a very strong connection to my family especially my late mother and my uncle who both always wanted the best for me in terms of education as the only child in the house. Around the age of five years old my uncle used to bring me all sorts of children books and board games that had colorful pictures and interesting, adventurous stories in them that made me fall in love with books of all kinds. From the earliest days of kindergarten my mother used to read for me all the books that were brought home by my uncle from work in the primary school where he worked as a janitor. These books included stories about pirates, princess, nights and witches some of them were just nursery rhymes that my mother sang for me at night, which I still know by heart to this date in connection to my mother. At primary school I was able to read for myself some of the books that were meant for grade ones up to grade four leaners books and also had little assistant from my teachers and mother with all the words I did not know at the time.
Esperanza Rising Dear Teacher, Esperanza Rising by Pam Munoz Ryan is an amazing book to use in class for next semester. I wish there were more books to read that I can personally relate to myself. Reading Esperanza Rising reminded me of my life as a child in India. I moved to the United States when I was 10 years old with my family and younger brother. Moving from India to a strange new country had a big impact in my life.
Schools and Society: Communication with Families 1 I believe the teacher staying late at least once a week shows an understanding to parents, not everyone works the same shifts or can be available while their children are at school. Having a handout for parents to look over was very insightful of the teacher. It will most likely cover all or most of the information given at this meeting and gives parents a chance to follow along with their handout. Also, they can take the handout home with them, giving them more time to come up with any questions that they may have regarding the material. It was sensitive of the teacher to consider any language barrier by having translators present at this speech.
My parents spent the summer constantly on the phone with our lawyer about the accident. Meanwhile, with legal issues at the forefront of my mind, a separate component of my brain was going, “Hmmm. A paralegal. Never thought of THAT before.” By the end of summer my mother’s cast came off and I emerged with a new plan. It was a mad scramble to get my financial aid and school application documents together in time for the fall semester, but by August 1, 2007, I was ready.
Do any of these teachers teach us how important good writing skills are to our lives and our futures? [This class has already taught me more in one week than in my entire prior education.] Do they really make sure, this is no joke? My opinion, no they do not. For this reason, it has affected the future endeavors for myself and I am sure many others.
My parents realized they would soon have to spell things out, as many parents do. As soon as I learned to spell, which wasn’t long after I learned to read, my parents had no hope. I had entered their secret world of language, and I wasn’t leaving anytime soon. This love affair with language and books continued well into elementary and middle school where I surpassed my Accelerated Reading points every six weeks. My parents and I even had a system: when we had finished dinner, we would go into my room and snuggle up with a book that either they or I had picked.
I see my friends getting good jobs and pursuing their education and I was a sixteen year old mother with nothing to look forward to. My life have change so much and my goal was to go back to school and complete my education. For the past three years my mother and brothers always encouraged me to continue where I left off. Finally one day I decided to reapply to a secondary school to complete in education. I try looking for a job first to take care of my daughter and pay for my finances but that wasn’t successful.
Finally, another important thing I learned was that all my work needs to be turned in on time. I really don’t want to get backed up on school work. To begin, my fist year as freshmen in high school was a challenge during my first week or two. I was having trouble finding time to do my homework because every Tuesday and Thursday’s I had practice from 5 pm to 7 pm. At Lincoln, we had advisory every Tuesday and Thursday, which was very convenient for me.
When I eventually transferred to public schools, the issues that everyone overlooked because they were not an obvious problem for me really came back to haunt me when I was assigned any sort of extensive writing assignment. I continued to take reading classes in public school. Fortunately, I managed to get through my English classes and graduate high school never expecting to have to write any sort of paper again. While I thought that to be true for the first two years out of high school, that proved to be a poor mindset to have. June
