Interview of a Person in Late Adulthood I decided to interview my grandfather for this paper because he is truly the most interesting and honest person I know and coincidentally he is 84 and falls into the late adulthood development stage. I asked him a series of questions and for most of them I was very surprised by his answers! My first question was about his career, how he chose it, was it satisfying, and how did he balance work and family. He answered by saying that he was a welder and it was a very east trade to get into back then, it put bread on the table and it was very hard to balance work and family because he would work all day then want to go to the bar, so he barley got to see the kids (my mom and aunt and uncle) and he said he does wish it wasn’t like that for them. My second question was what historical events have influenced your life? In what way did they influence your life as well? His answer was going to war. My grandpa was in the Korean War and stationed in Germany from 1950-1952. He said it was really hard at the time because he was currently dating my grandmother and it was hard being away from her. I loved talking to my grandpa about these things because we don’t typically talk about his past a lot, and it was neat to hear his answers. I talk to my grandfather a lot and some of the conversations that got started based off these questions were things I will take with me for the rest of my life.
