Language and People Manner in Communication By Putri Radanti Saraswati Abstract The importance of language in communication is undoubted. It is the nature of language as a means of communication. There are two kinds of communication depends on the way it is delivered, namely verbal and non-verbal communication. Verbal communication refers to spoken and written language through words, however non-verbal communication deals with the body movement, unspoken and unwritten language. In communicating to others, people can use verbal, non-verbal or the combination of those. Besides, there are also manner and SPEAKING aspect that should be considered to gain successful communication. This paper is going to discuss the importance of verbal and non-verbal language to success communication, and manner and SPEAKING concept which also take important role in it. Keywords: language, manner, SPEAKING, communication A. Introduction Language is commonly regarded as a means of communication. People use language to communicate and socialize to others. Language is one the most important thing that determines the social life runs. It is used to communicate, to deliver and receive ideas among the people. It is known that there are two kinds of communication, namely verbal and non-verbal communication. Verbal communication refers to directly spoken and written language used when they are communicating, while non-verbal communication is non-spoken and written language used to communicate, such as body language, winking eyes, etc. Both of verbal and non-verbal language supports each other and have a role in creating successful communication.
