It College is an educational Journey that requires practice, commitment and a lot of hardwork . It requires a no wavering commitment to one’s stated goals. Too many embark on this educational Journey but steadily, not all cross the finish line. In order to become a successful student, one must have a clear vision what his or her goals are, study habit and joining a study group. Firstly, having a clear vision of one’s academic or life plans allows student to set goals on how to achieve these plans.
This is a great challenge because we had different educational backgrounds, entirely different from what is been practice in the UK. Report writing: report writing is one of the strategies in which assessment is been carried out for student. The format being used in the UK is different from the format used back in my country. We were given guidelines to write reports from the day of our induction and strict emphasis on plagiarism which was particularly shocking to me. I have never thought of it that it is a crime for me to write out the words of others without crediting source of materials till the day of my induction.
For students to experience college success, students must achieve personal responsibility. Personal responsibility is the acknowledgement of sole obligation for an individual’s choices and decisions. As it relates to college success, it means that students must acknowledge authority over the outcome of their education. There are many factors that contribute to the outcome of a college student, the largest factor in the achievement of personal responsibility. Students must discipline themselves to take charge of their own actions and also develop effective time management skills.
If a professor finds that a person is cheating, they have to report them to the main office of the college, this can lead to difficulties for a student. They are placed on academic probation, and it is placed on their college transcript. They have to prove to the school that they will not cheat and will study hard to get the grades that they deserve. Having that kind of a mark isn’t good when they are trying to pursue a career. The student can get kicked out of the school if it continues and lose the education that they were trying to obtain.
There are pros and cons to states that decided to experiment raising the age. Every individual has the right to make their own choices. It shouldn't be the governments decision to decide if a child is to drop out or not. Raising the drop out age has had equally bad results as to good results. Students might want to drop out because they are struggling in school, getting bullied, have a health issue, have personal family problems, or just have a planned out future that doesn't require a high school diploma.
