Striving for Success Striving for success is something that many people do on a daily basis. Success is a desired outcome that many wish to obtain. Personal responsibility is skill that will produce success in many levels. Personal responsibility is a skill one must possess in becoming a successful college student. While if you don’t practice skills such as prioritizing, managing your time, or being organized your success will be limited.
First you should major in subject areas that interest and feel passionate about it; consequently, it will make you engage fully with the material you are learning and marketable in a competitive workforce. Beside you should learn who you are, what you love, and where you find yourself good at. Also parents should not interfere and force you to choose a major you don’t like. Even if the you don’t know what you want to be, you can still determine your skills and interest by looking at your academic history, especially in the challenging and comprehensive classes in which you perform well. Moreover you may also reflect on your past experiences, jobs you’ve done to determine your major.
However, he says, college expects students to have a higher and deeper understanding of the material. “After being introduced to an idea or a concept, college students must perform another sort of intellectual work on the material, namely critical examination and evaluation” (Meiland). The “critical examination and evaluation”, Meiland conveys, it enforces students to look deeper and closer into a topic without any kind of prejudging; moreover, they end up coming up with conclusions based on the evidence they have obtained. The author says that “college materials are treated as beliefs or conclusions reached through investigation” (Meiland). In his opinion, college students should try to find evidence, investigate, and speculate differently about the material they have learned.
My Learning Style How can learning styles define a person or does it really matters to achieve the goal of completing a college degree? Students see, hear and feel things in different ways, but each individual prefers one above all. Maybe it’s time to embrace what works the best to suit our needs and excel at the task given. I will discuss why I chose to finish college, how I’m catalogued in reference to my learning style and what do I think about this. My reason for seeking a college degree are many, most jobs require knowledge, advance skills, and experience.

You are in control of the outcome of your actions, and only you will have to deal with the consequences of that decision. Personal responsibility defines who you are and makes you aware of your decision making. As an adult, accepting personal responsibility is the key to success in any situation. Personal responsibility is motivation towards succeeding in college.
This is determined by deciding what you need to do and what you want to do. Knowing the difference between the two will help you prioritize. Sometimes you have to sacrifice enjoyable activities for your future. Managing your time will lead to knowing what’s going on, instead of being unprepared and stressed. College and universities should also put emphasis on applying this skills in daily workforce. This is important as students should be able to experience the atmosphere in a real workforce and apply the skills they learn in daily life. By doing so, students would know the purpose of studying such topics and would be motivated to learn more during their life in college and universities. In effect, the canned knowledge from the college and universities could be applied directly to the workforce and prepare students for the real world itself. However, life skills and character building should also be included during college and universities.
But what college can do is make you qualified to set on a path to gain that experience. It gives you the necessary skills that will prepare you for your career path.
