Initial Reflection My school experience in China taught me hard work and perseverance. In China, we have to work really hard to be a competitive student. Having arrived the UK at the age of 16, I have developed resilience, cultural awareness and integrated with students from all over the world. I enjoy contributing to the school community, for example I was a member of the International Society at high school and gave a presentation of China to other members. I love communicating with people and it helped me to make more friends from all over the world. I gained a lot benefits from my A-levels in the past two years. My three A-level subjects, maths, physics and chemistry, have given me some relevant and useful skills for business. The two statistics modules I am studying in maths will help me with this very important aspect of business, for example, in analyzing and applying data. Maths has also taught me the importance of accuracy. Studying physics and chemistry has enabled me to carry out experiments, which involve researching, planning, and analysing the data that I learned working independently to reach a successful outcome. I also enjoy present my scientific findings to my peer group in a critical context. For the last few years, I have worked for my father’s company over the school holidays. My work entailed diary management, administration, organising and analysing data and general office work. In addition, I liaised with advertising agency and I took part in analysing the market, determining the demand factors of my father’s flats and houses and identifying the target group. I also selected to advertise by television because both my father and I prefer mass media. These experiences have given me skills such as reliability, diplomacy and efficiency.
