College is one of the most important stages in life. During this time we get to learn new things, create and innovate. All of these new ideas and experiences contribute to our daily lives as well as our professional one. On a personal basis, college helps us structure our personalities, gather more knowledge about various subjects, it helps us be more open to the different points of view in the world, we meet new people, make more friends, and in result we form a social network from which we can perceive all sort of information and be able to develop and grow as a person. There are countless things that people have to do every single day in life so going college will help give you a better idea of what the definition of life really is. And the last reason why college matters is because it helps you interact with other people better. Communication plays a very important role every single day and a lot of employers rely on their employees to have sufficient communication skills. Some people tend to interact with people very well and others don’t. For the people who don’t interact with people well, college will give you the opportunity to enhance your communication skills for the real world.
I have to work around a lot of people, so that means I have to be friendly and show fellow employees that I care about them. The knowledge I have of how to work the office machines is a plus. The fax, copier, printer, and computer are the main machines I have to work with on a daily basis. I work hard every day to make sure my work is done and my office is running smoothly. But most of all, I am able to stand in when my boss it out.
Early students get close parking spots and are not late for class. Classes are also a great time management task to turn in assignments on time and working ahead is allowed. Time management is helpful in a workplace too. Being late to work seems to offset the day so a great habit to have is being a little bit early. Working throughout the day most full-time jobs are eight hours straight mostly five days a week with a lunch period.
I think that’s the best way to earn respect as a leader of the department. When I clock in every morning at 4:58 I’m ready for my everyday new challenges. I clock in ready to do my job and everybody else’s duties just so the day will go on smoothly for everyone. I’m always thinking about all my colleagues and what we can do to get through the day of work without any negativity. I’m excellent at that and the employees in my department can testify to that.
It always a benefit to know your competencies and personal profile cause it helps strengthen your skills that you already have and it help your build for the future in know what you have to do to move forward and be better at what you do. As for me meeting people and helping other is something that I love to do. Being an Administrative Assistant, I meet different ethnicity of people that need assistants with application or information on how to go about getting forms completed. I felt my education goal should be in the area where I meet and help people. I have a weakening of going over and beyond in helping people and I tend to go over and beyond with clients.
I have made many friends including Cadet/Private Sommermeyer and Cadet/Private Tatum. These many friends extend beyond the JROTC classroom and will no doubt be there when I most need them to be. Another thing ROTC is good for is community service hours. My counselor has already given me a community service worksheet to fill out whenever I do something and she says it will help me get into a much better college and will also look good on my Job/college application. JROTC also inspires me to work hard in school and out of school.

As for me, the challenge of returning to school brings me the delight of learning and the experience of something new every day. My years in the workforce have prepared me for dealing with different situations and many different types of people. Going back to school affords me personal growth. I recently went to The Dean’s Dialogue” workshop and I was happy I could have attended it. “Every student counts” words I won’t forget from the workshop, it taught me that doesn’t matter what you do, what matters is how you are doing it and where you are going! Every student could be successful for our community; each single student has a different point of view but is always with the same purpose: to become successful in our career. But what do you have to do? Easy!
