At every point in the U.S. history large waves of immigrants have brought fear and uneasiness in the already established American population. At the country’s inception there was a well-established concept of the U.S. being a point of refuge for any immigrant seeking new opportunities or religious freedom. As more and more immigrants have poured into this beacon of democracy and financial stability it became obvious that this flow has to be controlled in some way. Although a concept not present in the U.S at its foundation, the term “illegal immigrant” has come to represent everything that can be seen as negative in the topic of immigration. Since most of the country are descendants of immigrants, there is more respect and tolerance to immigrants
Racism and discrimination is not accepted in mainstream society. However, SB 1070 contradicts this belief of equal tolerance. This type of law opens the door for racial profiling. It is empowering law enforcement officers to practice a form of racial profiling. As stated by Kristina M. Campbell, “It was heavily criticized as a law whose enforcement would rely on racial profiling of Latinos and other racial minorities and that would require anyone to produce proof of citizenship to law enforcement officers on demand.”(Campbell 1) SB 1070 is visibly targeting immigrants from Mexico.
Implementing laws to reduce the number of immigrants entering the United States illegally that lead to racial profiling has caused many controversial issues and arguments among people. For example, on April 23,2010 Arizona Governor, Jan Brewer, signed S.B. 1070 into law. That would prevent some immigrants from entering the country illegally. The law requires Arizona police officers to question any one they reasonably suspect of being an illegal alien.
My argument is that the United States government should not put as much time and effort into stopping illegal immigration. The current system wastes a lot of time and money trying to prevent illegal immigration and trying to deport every illegal immigrant that they find. Illegal immigration is when someone who is not a US citizen comes to the United States to live without having the proper papers and going through the process of becoming a citizen. Many Americans believe that they are losing jobs to these illegal immigrants and that illegal immigration should be stopped. The issue with that is that there is currently no way to stop all of the illegal immigrants from making their way into the United States.
An illegal immigrant is any person who enters the United States illegally, or any person who enters legally and stays past the time legally allowed. There are many arguments that support allowing illegal immigrants into America. Illegal immigrants are essential to the American economy, they contribute more to the government than they receive in benefits, and current” ihttp://www.customessaymeister.com/customessays/Immigration/9282.htmmmigration policies are discriminatory. 10.) “No, they shouldn't be allowed in the U.S. WHY?
Immigrant Reform For all of those who call the United States home, you are currently immigrants, or born of immigrants. America will always be a nation of immigrants. This leads to a growing concern about the 11 to 12 million unauthorized immigrants that are migrating over our borders. These illegal aliens as some like to call them, come to the United States seeking freedom, justice, and the pursuit of happiness, just as our forefathers did. Our nation has two positions on what to do with these people, some have crossed U.S. borders illegally to enter, others who overstayed visas.
Instead, it will only take a toll on the innocent Americans who will not be able to protect themselves in case of an attack. It will also be a violation of people’s right and in addition, the citizens will lose their trust towards their elected leaders. The law enforcers should treat people with respect and fulfil their duty to protect and serve instead of using their power to terrorise them because without these people, they would not be enjoying those privileges. Liberalism is slowly going to change the country, and soon people will be under the rule of a few privileged individuals. Taking away people’s right to own firearms, as Dwyer notes, is a calculated move aimed at leaving the people with no free will.
Everyone should have a chance to look for a better life without been treat like a criminal. Illegal immigrants shouldn’t be reported instead they should be legalized. Illegal immigrants come to this country for safety because in their country they live scare that they can get kill and they also want a better life like making their dreams come true and buy things that they never have before. There are many immigrants in this country, but it also helps the economy of this country. Safety is what many people look for and if in their country they can’t find it they have to go out of their country and find it.
That is why I came to this country looking for new horizons. I, like many other Hispanics, came seeking for a better life, instead some of us have been through many things which is not my case because I’m a resident. I think that our politicians should reflect for a moment and think about what they are doing. Throughout all these years Hispanics haven’t been but a huge contribution to this country. And, personally, I think that deportation is a slap in the face to all the Hispanics that have been in this country for so long, and contributed so much to it.
Amnesty The illegal immigrant issue in America is an ever increasing issue. Bills have been sent to be passed to the president and have been declined. The issue now is becoming more and more of a problem, when our borders go unprotected. The problems that illegal immigration causes to a society and a nation can be harmful. By granting these people amnesty, we can counter some of these problems and provide a system in which people can be treated fairly and not be forced to be paid less and soak up the benefits of living inside the United States without contributing.
