On December 14, 2012 a man named Adam Lanza went into an elementary school in Newtown Connecticut and killed twenty six people. The fact that twenty of them were children makes me sick to my stomach. Since the Newtown tragedy, over three thousand people have died because of gun violence. And the laws that America has today, does not help the gun violence that we have in this country. How would you feel if your son or daughter was shot and killed at school? America is in deep trouble and we need help to make things more peaceful. Guns to me are the worst thing in America today. They are dangerous machines that can kill a group of people in a matter of minutes, but not all guns are bad. Guns used for hunting or for sports are fine when used by a trained and trustworthy person. As of right now anybody can just go on the internet and just buy a gun. We need to have universal background checks. It is vital to check the person’s history before you give them a gun. You wouldn’t want to give a criminal a gun would you? Criminals will still find a way to get dangerous weapons like guns. They usually have connections to other people that can provide them with the guns and weapons that they will use to Couse crime execute their crimes. The bottom line is that this law will not stop them from having guns if they are desperate to have them, but that doesn’t mean it won’t make it harder to do so. Assault weapons that our used in the military, are legal to own as citizen. This statement alone just makes me unpleased with the government. The people of the United States do not need such weapons like these. The second amendment states that any person has the rights to bear arms, this clearly doesn’t involve these types of weapons. These should be permanently banned by the government. We as citizens will feel a lot more
